AMELIA is a one-year old BC/Shepard mix. She is goofy, sweet and very affectionate. AMELIA is all wiggles and happy for everyone she meets, 4 legs or 2. She especially loves playing with other dogs. AMELIA will follow her person around the house, investigating every corner of the house with her nose. She is a medium to high energy girl who needs regular exercise and play time.
When AMELIA first came into rescue we realized she was not hearing us. We had her tested and it turns out she is deaf. This does not hold her enthusiasm back at all. She is an amazing dog with a heart of gold. She is starting to learn hand signals and is coming along. Having another dog in the house will also help give her the cues needed. While not a shy girl, she does gain confidence from other dogs in the household and would really like to have a playmate. AMELIA is very cat curious, but has learned to live with the cats at her foster's house (though any cats in her home would have to be very dog savvy and be OK with her curious puppy-like nature).
AMELIA is potty trained, but does need frequent potty breaks to avoid accidents. She sleeps quietly in her crate all night and is fine with spending some time in the crate during the day while her foster mom is away. AMELIA walks well on a leash with very little pulling, but would benefit from additional leash training to better pay attention to her person. She is beginning to show interest in playing with a ball and she also likes the water. AMELIA was hesitant about getting in the car at first, but now she jumps in eagerly when it’s time to go for a ride. Overall she is a terrific girl who will make a wonderful companion.
AMELIA is micro-chipped, spayed, heart worm negative and on preventative, and up to date on vaccinations.
