There are a variety of reasons for someone to relinquish their dog. Often it is because of a change in life circumstance beyond their control. We understand the difficult decision these owners face and appreciate the effort they are making to find a suitable home for their dog. One advantage of obtaining a dog directly from its owner is much, if not all, of the dog’s history may be known. Dogs are presented on this web page as a service and courtesy to their owners, but are not being made available for adoption through NCBCRA. We have not met these dogs and our understanding of them is limited to the information provided by their owner. No fee has been required of owners to place their dogs on this web page though some owners may have provided a voluntary donation. To enquire about a dog on this page, please contact the owner directly.

If you have a border collie in need of new home we would be happy to place their picture and a description on this page. Or, we may be able to take him or her into rescue. For more information for either consideration please review this link, Is Your Border Collie Looking for a New Home?  Please note, for either posting to this webpage or being placed into rescue, dogs are required to be spayed or neutered.

Indy is a very active boy. He is about three-years-old and is loyal, intelligent, attentive and treat-motivated. He goes for daily walks and runs in Redwood City and loves to go exploring with his owners. Indy prefers to stay inside with minimal stimulations while his owners are at work and school. He is very well house-trained, doesn't chew on items he shouldn’t chew on and sleeps most of the day provided that he has a soft bed to lie on. He will also hang out in his crate with the door open/closed during the day or for nap time. He sleeps quietly through the night. Indy is good on a leash, responsive to recall and knows basic commands including "Go to bed".

Daniel adopted Indy from a shelter in Twin Falls, Idaho when Indy was about 6 months old. He was rescued running the streets of Twin Falls and most likely had poor initial socialization before he was found. Indy received four behavior training sessions in December 2015 and a behavior evaluation at UC Davis three weeks ago. He is fearful and can be aggressively protective at times. I can provide all evaluations and training materials.

Indy is a herding breed or guardian breed mix and would do best in a home that has experience with these types of breeds and that understands the exercise, training, and socialization that these dogs require. He is extremely interested in cats/rabbits/squirrels and would do best in a one animal house. A quieter home with one or two people would be ideal for Indy, as he can be nervous around new people at first but once he warms up to you he will love you forever. Indy is up-to-date on his vaccinations, neutered, microchipped, and has had a recent physical exam. I will provide all veterinary records and vaccine certificates as well as leash, collar, harness, head collar, kennel, dog bowls, food storage container, assorted toys and a familiar bed. I also have 6 months of flea medication and heartworm medication and 2-3 week’s worth of food. Indy is looking for his own safe haven to call his forever home. He also lives for cuddles on the couch! He is a fantastic companion. If interested in Indy, please contact Daniel at sheeter@gmail.com .
