Meet your new best friend, Link! Link is a 6 year old Border Collie / Queensland Heeler mix born in Applegate, CA and raised in Folsom, CA.

Demeanor with People:  Link loves people, even strangers, and is great with kids.  He has been around babies and toddlers daily for the past 5 years with no problems.  He has never nipped, even when his tail or ears were pulled. We only had to watch his energy/excitement level because, due to his relative size, he could knock the kids over if he bumped into them.

Demeanor with Animals:  Link is true to his nature as a herder. He chases the family cat whenever possible but has never hurt her and chases down and catches squirrels. Link is wary of other dogs, small and large, and takes time warming up to them. He will bark, growl, and nip at dogs he doesn’t know. Given time to warm up, Link gets along well with other herding breeds, and will play with and chase them for hours (literally hours).

Activity & Smarts:  Even at 6 years old, Link is a ball of energy. He will tire on a long walk or hike, but be ready to go again in 15 minutes. He loves to play chase and keep away, and will work for treats.  Link is a very quick learner and learns lessons you don’t even mean to teach him. He solves treat puzzles in 15 minutes, and responds to commands with little practice. He can get distracted by other people and animals though, making him less responsive. When bored he WILL find things to keep him occupied (i.e. chew and destroy).

Reason for Giving Link Up:  Link has been and still is a wonderful, loving, fun and beautiful dog, but now that we have 3 kids and 2 working parents we can’t give him the time and attention he deserves. We want him to have a better home that can keep him busy and and happy.
