If you are looking for a gem of a dog let me introduce you to JEWEL! This girl is definitely a diamond in the rough. They do not come any more lovable or cuddly than this sweet girl. She can be submissively shy upon first meeting, but quickly gravitates to asking for pets, hugs and belly rubs. JEWEL would like nothing more than to share her love by crawling into your lap! She will also be your shadow and follow you around wherever go!

JEWEL is a small Border Collie who weighs about 35 pounds and has a short easy care coat. At 2 years old she is full grown in height, but has room for further filling out if you like. She has an unlimited amount of love to give someone who wants a cuddle buddy. JEWEL is crate trained where she sleeps quietly through the night. She is not an obnoxious barker and has not had a single accident in her foster home!  Well done JEWEL!!

JEWEL’s outside energy level is typical Border Collie, though not rambunctious or anywhere near over the top. Inside she is mellow and asks nothing more than to be with you, resting at your feet, or following you around as you go about your chores. She gets along well with other dogs that are friendly to her. She would do well as an only dog but her foster Mom thinks she would also do well with a buddy to romp, play and chase around the yard. She is a very fast. With training, she might make an outstanding agility dog. JEWEL has not had a lot of experience riding in cars and while rides quietly in her crate she does get a drooly; but for most dogs this goes away with experience.

JEWEL has been around “dog savvy” cats so we think she’ll be fine with the kitties. She responds well to a soft tone of voice if discipline is needed. In her foster home she comes when called, however, on walks a leash is a must until fully trained. We can see that JEWEL is a smart girl, however, we don’t believe she has had the opportunity to use her brain, and….“a Border Collie brain is a terrible thing to waste”!! With that in mind, All in all JEWEL can use some confidence building and will benefit from someone who has time, patience, and the wish to guide her into her new life.

JEWEL is micro-chipped, spayed, heart worm negative and on heartworm & flea/tick monthly preventative, and up to date on vaccinations. JEWEL is being fostered in Nevada City in Nevada County, California.
