Say hello to lovely KATIE, whom we often call KATIE BOO. She is a two-year old, female, black & white rough coated border collie mix with a super sweet personality. At 60 pounds, she’s a bigger girl for a border collie, but she’s all sleek muscle. KATIE is a soft dog, daintily lifting her paw to shake when asked or giving kisses and cuddles. KATIE loves being petted and foster mom gives her an all over body massage. KATIE has called “dibs” on one of the dog pillows! Smart and sweet, our KATIE also picked her own crate on the first day at her foster home where she retires after a busy day and sleeps quietly through the night.
KATIE was overwhelmed in the shelter, but has readily melded with the pack at her foster home. She engages the other dogs in all manners of play. It has been a joy to watch her transition. She is however still developing full trust in her new environment in that outdoors KATIE can be a bit stand-offish. She can be laying down in the middle of the yard and when approached may get up and move off to maintain some space. Outdoors she is more likely to engage us when we are sitting in the lawn chairs then when we go to her. With strangers to the property she is apt to alarm bark from a distance and may take her time to confirm the outlander is acceptable! Her new owner has to be patient and willing to work with her building her outdoor trust.
KATIE has outstanding house manners. She is housebroken and has not chewed anything inappropriate. She is very respectful of PuckleCat, who allows her to get close because she knows KATIE is not a threat. She likes car rides and walks extremely well on leash. She appears to have had leash training as she walks adeptly beside you and when you stop, she stops.
We believe KATIE will be at her best if she has another dog with which to relate. We are looking for a situation where she will have a buddy dog to play with and from whom she can learn the ways of the household. Whomever is lucky enough to adopt this wonderful young girl will need to continue to bring forth her potential. If you think you can give KATIE the home she deserves, KATIE would like to schedule a time with you to go over your particulars!
KATIE is micro-chipped, spayed, heart worm negative and on preventative, and up to date on vaccinations.
