Say hello to our boy LOUIE! He is a 5 year old male border collie with a lovely red and white rough coat. LOUIE came into rescue with a group of border collies rescued from a hoarding situation in Northern California. He was very shy to begin with but over a few weeks has blossomed into a happy, playful dog who loves life and his people. LOUIE also likes our cat. More specifically, he likes to stare at our cat and follows her around the house and stares at her some more! He doesn't chase her, and PuckleCat doesn't mind, though PCat knows this behavior from prior rescue dogs. All in all, a dog savvy cat may be the best feline situation for our boy.

LOUIE is housebroken and gets along with his pack mates here at his foster home. He crates easily and sleeps quietly through the night. In his early days here we might find him retired to his crate during the day, but more and more he hangs out with the pack in the living room. He rides well in the car, loads up easily and knows his name. LOUIE plays with his mates while they play ball. He sometimes joins in chasing the ball, but is also as likely to chase after he ball chasers; but either way it all works out as being fun for all. When neighbor dogs stop by, he’s up for playing and wrestling with them. We did have to curtail some of LOUIE'S enthusiastic chewing. From time to time he would be spotted trotting by with an unattended slipper or perhaps a throw blanket in tow, but with a few AH-AH’s and substitution of an appropriate chew toy he seems to have left that undesirable activity in the past.

In sum LOUIE is (re)learning life is good, people are nice and there is always a good meal and soft, warm bed in his daily planner.  But his new human may need some patience for him to regenerate the trust he’s found here. We’ve had many such fosters like LOUIE and the bulk of the trust rebuild is however typically solidly established by the time they are adopted so that effort is greatly lessened for his new family  LOUIE isn't a barker, is a bit of a digger and as stated, a reformed chewer - he will be award his designated chew slipper when adopted!  LOUIE is affectionate and loves a good petting and cwtch (Welsh: hug/cuddle). He has his slipper packed and is waiting for his forever family to come and claim him. Could it be you?

LOUIE is micro-chipped, neutered, heart worm negative and on preventative, and up to date on vaccinations. LOUIE is being fostered in Auburn in Placer County, California.
