TIBBY (Mr. Tibbs)

Male, 6 months, 25 lbs

TIBBY

TIBBY (Mr. Tibbs) is a 25lb, 6-month-old male Border collie mix with ears for days! He has a lovely easy care smooth coat (like a Labrador retriever’s coat) and the cutest spots on his big ears. In fact, he might have some Labrador retriever in this background.  TIBBY gets along very well with other dogs and would be best placed in a home with other dogs. He will chase cats, but he does not hurt them so he could live in a house with very dog savvy cats. TIBBY loves the human that he is bonded with and will cuddle (for a few minutes) on the couch or lay at your feet. His favorite thing in the world is playing with his foster pack mate Cindy, who is about the same age.  In play, he likes to wrestle and run zoomies, so any dogs who engages him in play would need to like his play style. He will back off if the other dog lets him know “enough already.”  He is a young puppy, after all!   He leaves the older dog in his foster home alone, mostly.

TIBBY came to us in late March as a 3-month-old stray with an injured rear leg. Turns out, he had a spiral fracture that just needed some time and a splint to heal. He spent March and April in recovery. His leg is fully healed, and he should not have any issues long term. He is now ready to find his forever home.

TIBBY is a medium to high energy boy who will need daily walks and regular exercise. He has not shown much interest in a ball, but he will chase the dog who is chasing the ball. He loves plush or chew toys and a good game of tug. He is starting on leash training and some basic commands. He is fully potty trained and rides fine in the car when crated or tethered to a secure harness. He only chews on appropriate things and is not destructive. He sleeps quietly in his crate at night and is fine with being crated for an hour while his foster mom is away.

TIBBY is the sweetest, most affectionate dog with the people he knows, but he is initially shy when meeting new people. We have been working on this, and he improves more each day. If a new person is patient, Tibby warms up quickly, even as he sometimes barks initially.  He does gain confidence from being with other dogs, so having other dogs in his forever home will help him a lot.

Mr. Tibbs is a lovely, soft tempered dog who needs someone with a gentle touch, a bit of extra patience and willingness to help him  overcome his initial shyness. He will repay you with so much love and pure joy. This little guy has won the hearts of everyone he meets,  and he is ready for his forever family.

TIBBY is micro-chipped, spayed, heart worm negative and on preventative, and up to date on vaccinations. If you have an approved Northern California Border Collie Rescue & Adoptions Adoption Application and wish to inquire about TIBBY, please email us at Adoptions@norcalbcrescue.org. If you have an approved adoption application with Border Collie Rescue of Northern California let us know and we will request it be forwarded to us for consideration.

TIBBY is being fostered north of Sacramento, CA.
