Bowie
4 years old born 3/23/19
Border collie, German shepherd, cattle dog, lab and Australian shepherd mix per Embark
54 lb neutered male
Bowie was born in rescue in San Francisco and adopted into our family at 8 weeks old. He needs to find a family without children. He has growled and lunged at our infant daughter, and per the recommendation of our trainer and vet behaviorist we need to rehome him.
NO bite history.
The good:
🐾 walks nicely on leash in busy urban areas, is non-reactive to people, skateboards, cars, etc.
🐾 driven: will work for toys, food, praise, pretty much anything and lives to please and train. loves tug and fetch!
🐾 gets along great with my very bossy 8 year old corgi mix. goes to a boarder and does fine with other dogs there although will bug other dogs to play.
🐾 no resource guarding
🐾 happy to just sit and watch you all day, or go for a 15 mile hike. He is a very loving dog and incredibly sweet.
🐾 fine with strangers with quick introductions (happiest to meet people outside the house and then walk inside)
The fine print:
🐾 nervous of kids and CANNOT live with kids.
🐾 reactive to dogs who get nose to nose or bark at him. very easy to manage and ignores dogs unless they approach him. NOT a dog park type of dog, but does fine with controlled introductions to friends’ dogs.
🐾 high prey drive, tries to chase cats.
🐾 uncomfortable with strangers reaching towards him and will duck away.
Happy to answer any questions. We are absolutely heartbroken about having to rehome Bowie. Before our daughter was born, he was a very easy and fun dog to live with. Please contact me at jch289@gmail.com. Located in San Francisco and transport is a possibility.
