Dude is a truly intelligent, beautiful, and goofy boy. He loves to play fetch and play around with the other dog in our home. He currently lives in a happy home with a toddler, a 5 year old hound mix, and adult male and female.
Dude came into our lives when he was 8 weeks old from a neighbor who was unable to keep him after only having him for a few days due to unknown circumstances at home. Despite having a busy home already, we thought we could take him in, but unfortunately we underestimated the training needed and physical and mental energy that needs to be expressed everyday with his breed. While he is wonderful off leash, we have very little opportunity in our area to explore this with him outside of our home and dog parks. He has shown difficulty walking on leash and shown aggression and barking while on leash towards other dogs and on occasion barked at children. While he does not appear to want to physically harm a dog or child, his bark sounds very aggressive.
He would be best suited for someone who can be dedicated to training him as a companion and who can bond with him through their work together (ie; hiking, running, agility, etc.) He would be happy to have another dog at home.
We are very sad to see our boy go, but it feels selfish to keep him when he needs and deserves more than we are able to provide him due to a busy life with our child. We want to make sure he goes to a loving home with people we can trust and who preferably have experience with this breed.
