Jude is a purebred, short hair, 7-year-old, male Border Collie. Jude has been with us since he was a puppy but has not adapted well to the latest addition of his family – a 15-month-old baby girl that he has recently bitten. Unfortunately, we can no longer give him the undivided attention and care that he needs. This is not a decision that we take lightly as he is part of our family; however, we cannot have a dog that bites and we would hate for this situation to escalate to something worse. We understand that Border Collies are a special breed and we want to make sure our boy is given the best opportunity at a new home
Jude is considered a special needs dog in that he would be best suited for a couple with no young children, no other dogs, and with someone that can give him lots of one on one attention and stimulation. Jude’s owner should be familiar with the border collie breed and their nuances. Because of his personality, Jude does not do well at dog parks or open kennel doggie play and boarding. With strangers coming into the home he can be unpredictable. Generally, if we have them completely ignore him it’s fine and then they can co-mingle. Jude is very smart and wants to please; however, he can be mischievous if he feels he is being ignored or not getting enough attention.
Likes: playing fetch, getting love and attention, greenies, cuddling in bed. Jude is a really sweet dog if he is the center of attention. He knows commands: sit, stay, come, and bed. He can play hide and seek with his toys for hours!
Dislikes: smoke; skateboards; weird sounds; fireworks; young babies and children; unknown strangers, especially unknown males; other alpha dogs; can be afraid of outside noises, leash aggression. Not well suited for dog parks as he fights with other dogs if they bother him
He is neutered and microchipped. He is also house trained, and crate trained.
