Meet LEROY, a 7 ½ year old loving boy. LEROY is an alumnus from our parent organization, Border Collie Rescue of Northern California, and had a happy home near Monterey. His mother was a full BC and his daddy was Terrier. Adopted as a pup, his owner (sadly and recently) died. The estate had him boarded for a few weeks before contacting NCBCRA for help. Now in foster care with plenty of BCs, LEROY has adapted well, gained new playmates, and settled in to a home environment again. He seems genuinely happy after experiencing a very traumatic few months.
LEROY loves toys, balls, deer antlers – he isn’t picky! The squeaky toys particularly bring him joy, although a good ball is a close second. LEROY is a gentle and loving boy – he will climb in your lap if you let him, genuinely wanting to be with his people. He has very expressive eyes, loves laying in front of the fire on a cold day, and likes to curl up in his comfortable bed to catch some winks.
As an ‘only child’ for all of his life, LEROY does really well in sharing his toys with his packmates and likes to wrestle and play games. LEROY needs coaching on how to meet strangers, as he can over-react. We asked our fav trainers from Animal Minds come and evaluate LEROY and coach us on how best to introduce him to new friends; all went very well. His foster family is continuing to socialize him, but he will need your continued guidance.
LEROY is super cute when he has his squeaky toy in his mouth and wants to play with you. He knows all kinds of commands such as sit, laydown, and more. He sleeps all night in his crate, travels well in the car, requires a bit of leash training, is food motivated, and needs to be in a home without cats.
LEROY is being fostered in Granite Bay, Placer County, California.
LEROY is micro-chipped, neutered, heart worm negative and on preventative, and up to date on vaccinations.
