ADOPTED CARRIE

Female, 17 lbs, 8 Weeks, born on 09/17/2024

CARRIE

This is Carrie. She is one of the “Halloween Puppies”. Carrie is an adorable tri color / fawn, black, and white smooth coat Border collie cross.  Born on September 17th, she is now twelve weeks old, and is eagerly ready to find her forever home.  Carrie is a wonderful, well-balanced little girl with dark, inquisitive eyes.  She is always listening and thinking as she looks at you.

Carrie is fun, energetic, and very curious.  She loves to explore the yard on her own, and mostly keeps a close eye to her human when running free.  Carrie is both agile and athletic.  She will run and turn on a dime, then stop, jump straight up in the air, and look at you.  Even at her young age, Carrie navigates stairs like a champ.

Carrie has learned very quickly to respond to her recall whistle, running back to you from anywhere in the yard.  In her free play time, Carrie is learning to chase a soft toy.  Her training sessions are very short and several times a day with positive praise, reinforcement, and food treat reward.  Carrie is food-motivated but mostly loves praise and attention.  Carrie learned very quickly to walk with the leash snapped to her flat collar (absolutely very little corrections required).  Like most puppies, Carrie needs supervision and must be redirected so not to develop bad habits. Carrie must have a family who will spend time with her and train her to reach her true potential. This little girl is smart, agile, and focused.

Carrie does very well in her inside crate.  She has had a few accidents in her crate and is progressing nicely with potty training.  Between potty breaks, Carrie sleeps soundly and quietly in her crate.  When outside, Carrie has learned very quickly to relieve herself on command with positive reinforcement.  Carrie has not been left to run free unsupervised in the house.  She is content in her crate for down time and to sleep.  During daylight hours, Carrie has an x-pen for downtime, breakfast, lunch, dinner, and napping.  Carrie travels quiet and calm in a crate when riding in the car.

Carrie is playful with her canine foster big brother.  She will stand her ground and is not submissive, but she is respectful.  Carrie has been exposed to young children.  She is not at all mouthy however, when excited, sometime does jump up on children and or adults.  We are working on her manners.

Carrie desires an active family with a “puppy plan,” someone who will include her in ALL their activities, and who will support and train her to become the very best dog she can be.  Carrie loves to run and play.  That said, Carrie must have a job—more than tossing a ball or walks around the park.  She has an inquisitive, active mind that needs to be stimulated.  She is also very sweet and loves to be held and cuddled.

CARRIE is current on vaccinations, as well as heartworm and flea/tick prevention.  She is microchipped.  As a condition of puppy adoption, she will need to be spayed when she reaches approximately 6 months (specific time to be determined by your vet). In addition to the adoption fee, puppy adoption requires a $75 spay/neuter deposit. Upon our receiving the spay/neuter certificate from you, the deposit is refunded.

If you have an approved Northern California Border Collie Rescue & Adoptions Adoption Application (https://norcalbcrescue.org/adoption/adoption-application/) and wish to inquire about CARRIE, please email us at Adoptions@norcalbcrescue.org.
