Dogs By Owner

Due to limited resources, we are unable to accept owner surrender dogs into rescue at this time. Please email us at OwnerListings@norcalbcrescue.org should you need to rehome your dog. Owner posted dogs are required to be spayed or neutered. With all required information provided, we will post the dog on our website and cross-post on our Facebook page. Also review the exceptional information on re-homing your dog offered by the San Francisco based American Pit Bull Terrier rescue, https://badrap.org/how-help/rehoming-a-dog/

We understand the difficult decision these owners face and appreciate the effort they are making to find a suitable home for their dog. One advantage of obtaining a dog directly from its owner is much, if not all, of the dog’s history may be known.

Dogs are presented on this web page as a service and courtesy to their owners, but are not being made available for adoption through NCBCRA. We have not met these dogs and our understanding of them is limited to the information provided by their owner. Any rehoming fees are between owner and adopter. NCBCRA neither receives any fees nor intercedes in the adoption process. No fee has been required of owners to place their dogs on this web page though some owners may have provided a voluntary donation.

To enquire about a dog on this page, please contact the owner directly per the information in the post.

KODI OWNER AVAILABLE

If interested in Kodi, please contact Megan via email at megankravec@gmail.com. Hi my name is Kodi and I am a border collie mix. My mom adopted me about 3 years ago from the pound. I am about 35 lb and 4 years old. I am microchipped and spayed. I have been heavily trained since being adopted. I am crate trained, mat/place trained, know a lot of cool tricks (sit, stay, mat, crate, down, spin, touch, roll over, shake, up, down, off, and am learning 'hoop'). My parents recently had a baby and I am having a hard time adjusting. I go to group training lessons almost weekly with other dogs and am usually the star. I am not reactive in the community, as long as I have a treat.

JOE OWNER AVAILABLE

Meet Jiuer ("Joe") Please read the entire bio (bite history explained) before inquiring. Joe is a 2.5-year-old, 16 kg (35 lbs) male Border Collie looking for a special home with an experienced owner who understands high-drive working breeds. He is up to date on his vaccinations, microchipped, and was recently neutered. Joe is incredibly intelligent, athletic, and eager to stay active. He loves being outdoors, enjoys fetching balls and loves being around people. He is friendly with strangers and has many of the qualities people love about Border Collies—bright, energetic, observant, and always ready to engage. Joe's ideal home is one with an experienced adult owner who is familiar with herding breeds and committed to providing consistent structure, ongoing training, regular exercise, and appropriate mental enrichment. He is not suitable for a first-time dog owner or a family with young children. Joe has a history of resource guarding and territorial behavior. There have been two bite incidents involving family members, one of the recent incidents required medical treatment. Because of this history, we don't feel that we can safely manage him anymore. He will need an owner who understands these challenges and is prepared to work through them carefully.

FREDDY OWNER AVAILABLE

If interested in Freddy, please contact Melanie via email at mehacklander@gmail.com. Freddy is a 7-year-old, 55-pound, neutered Border Collie looking for a home where he can thrive. True to his breed, he loves to play—especially with his Jolly Ball—but he's also happy to spend most of the day relaxing. He's never been destructive, rides well in the car, and is an easy companion to have around.

ROSIE OWNER AVAILABLE

If interested in ROSIE, please contact Kymberly via email at maamkym@gmail.com. Rosie is a 4 yr old BC who was raised in a home with older folks who do not understand the breed.  She has been a good dog until she decided to show dominance over the other female in the home, whereupon the owners did not want her anymore. Rosie did not learn much and was mostly left to herself.  I have been training Rosie for almost a month now. She is a delightful dog and is responding to obedience training and enjoys learning.

ZEP OWNER AVAILABLE

If interested in Zep, please contact Alex via email at asdehaan@gmail.com. Zep is a 7.5-year-old spayed female Border Collie weighing about 60 lbs. She is microchipped and current on vaccinations, including rabies. Zep is a very sweet, loyal dog who loves attention and being close to her people. She will come up and put her head in your lap when she wants attention, and she often follows me around the house. She loves walks, playing, and being included in whatever is going on. She is smart and has picked up the things I have taught her pretty quickly.

MAX OWNER AVAILABLE

If interested in MAX please contact Gwendolyn via email at zoegwen2000@gmail.com  Max is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. He is located in Sacramento, CA, and is ready to meet the right adopter who can meet-adopt here. A home visit and vet reference are required to adopt. This handsome guy is Max. He needs a home because his person passed away. Max was born on December 27th, 2023. He weighs about 34 pounds. Max knows sit. He is working on “look at me” and is working on “drop it”. He is also house trained. Max is a loyal guy who feels more comfortable with women than men. Kind, fair men can get him to warm up. We think a home with kids would be too busy for Max. Max is best with smaller dogs, and dogs who aren’t rambunctious. As for his home life, he will be best as the only dog. As for cats, he lives with cats but wants to chase so it is probably best if he does not live with them.
