Are you looking for a lovable sweetheart that will curl up with you on the sofa and give you kisses?? Someone who will love you unconditionally forever? Someone to be your loyal companion and won’t ever cheat on you? Well…stop looking for love in all the wrong places and look into our rescue! This is where you’ll find ANNIE!
ANNIE just celebrated her first birthday (born 9/18/2019). She is a Border collie mix who weighs a slender 35 lbs. She has a sleek short white coat with a few patches of brindle color. Her freckled face has big soulful eyes that look like they have been lined with black eyeliner and pretty white eyelashes. ANNIE is very smart and a fast learner. She is food / treat motivated so her training is exciting and fun! She just seems to want to please! Whether it’s playing outside, keeping you company while doing chores or just relaxing in the house by your side she loves being wherever you are and will follow you everywhere! Her foster Mom thinks ANNIE is the sweetest and most lovable dog she has ever fostered!
ANNIE tends to be very sensitive and she may find her transition to a new home a bit difficult at first. She will need time to adjust so it’s important that her new person understands this and is willing to give her that time! She is definitely a dog who thrives on “physical touch and sweet talk.” This will absolutely help build her relationship with her new person!! ANNIE may initially bark at new people that she encounters however, with proper guidance she will learn to overcome this. Even though she gets along great with all of her foster siblings she can sometimes be leery of other dogs at first, and may curl her lip but she has never shown any further aggression. Once she knows they are friendly she will get along well with them. This is not uncommon with dogs…especially young pups who have not had much exposure to their world.
ANNIE displays typical young energy and loves to run and play. However, she will settle down calmly in the house and either sleep or entertain herself with toys. She loves playing with toys! ANNIE is housebroken and will get” edgy” and stand at the door when she needs to go out to potty. This sweet girl loves to jump in the car and go for rides because it usually ends in a nice long walk or a chance to play in the water. ANNIE loves water and enjoys wading in the creek she now frequents. She is able to follow her foster siblings, off leash (in safe areas only!) and her foster Mom says she will come back when called and even “checks in” with her on her own. She does walk fairly well on leash but could use some additional work. She also loves to play fetch and will even bring the ball / Frisbee back to you and drop it almost every time. However, when she has had enough you must go retrieve the ball yourself!!
ANNIE has gained a bit of confidence and will explore her world and surroundings while on outdoor excursions. She would benefit from more socializing around people and dogs. ANNIE is not at all a “fearful” dog but she can be a little timid in some situations. Additional confidence building will help her with this. ANNIE is crate trained and sleeps quietly through the night. She knows some commands like, come, sit, shake, go to bed (crate) lay down and will do so happily. She is such a sweetheart!
PLEASE NOTE…We would prefer to place ANNIE in a home with a retired couple or, at least, someone who is home most of the day and with no children. We would also like ANNIE to have a buddy, a little older than she is, with similar energy to play with. A big brother or sister can help show her what is expected and can help her blossom into the wonderful companion that she definitely has the potential to become with a little time and patience!!
If you have the experience and skills to work with ANNIE and you think you might be a good fit for ANNIE we would be happy to speak with you.
