ADOPED ATTICUS
Male, 5 Months. 20 lbs
Male, 5 Months. 20 lbs
ADOPTED
ATTICUS is a 5-month-old, approximately 20-pound pup. He is an athletic boy with boundless energy, who enjoys long hikes, learning tricks & new behaviors like sit, down, leave it, off, & wait. Right now, his favorite thing is playing with wild abandon, & he plays hard. Finding things to occupy this boy & working with him to find his off switch are his biggest challenges. If he doesn’t have something to occupy his smart border collie brain, he will get himself into trouble by finding things on his own to do: chewing, digging, etc. Some of the appropriate things he enjoys doing in his foster home includes chasing and wrestling with the other dogs, playing ball, running through the agility tunnel, playing in & with cardboard boxes, & toys/toys/toys. He is crated for naps & for sleeping. After a full day of activity, he will crawl into his foster mom’s lap for a snuggle. And he has learned to potty outside, going to the door when he needs to go out.
ATTICUS has learned to respect the wishes of the older dogs in his foster home & is fearless with other dogs at this point. That said, living with a pack of dogs is over-stimulating to him, & he truly loses his brains for minding or learning in the company of other dogs. He also chases cats. So, we are looking for a home for him without other dogs or perhaps one other dog, & no cats. He is still a bit shy around people he has just met, perhaps a bit more with males than females, but he quickly makes friends.
Because ATTICUS has boundless energy, the desire for mental & physical stimulation, smarts, athleticism, a “can do” attitude, drive for toys & treats, & a happy temperament, he would be a wonderful candidate for dog sports of all kinds. We are looking for a home for him that can provide the kind of outlet he will need to be the best dog he can be & with someone who knows how to channel him, someone with training experience, who is looking for more than a companion, & someone who has the time to devote to him. This boy has tremendous potential.
ATTICUS is started on his puppy vaccines, wormed, and microchipped. As a condition of puppy adoption, he will need to be altered when he reaches approximately 6 months (specific time to be determined by your vet). In addition to the adoption fee, puppy adoption requires a $75 spay/neuter deposit. Upon our receiving the spay/neuter certificate from you, the deposit is refunded. If you have an approved Northern California Border Collie Rescue & Adoptions Adoption Application and wish to inquire about ATTICUS, please email us at Adoptions@norcalbcrescue.org. If you have an approved adoption application with Border Collie Rescue of Northern California let us know and we will request it be forwarded to us for consideration.
