Meet lovely BILLIE! She is from the same litter as Q and BILLIE so that makes her about 14 weeks old. We think she is border collie / McNab. She has a beautiful smooth, shiny black coat with white feet and chest, and a couple of cute spots on her head. BILLIE is easily one of the nicest, happiest foster dogs we’ve had.
In the short time she has been at her foster home, BILLIE quickly learned how to walk nicely on a leash – even a brave visit to scary Lowe’s the first night – and LOVES the daily walks we take around the neighborhood with her foster sisters. She is getting the hang of potty training and will obediently head outside to take care of business when asked. BILLIE is a polite guest and although always ready to play, play, play, is not a nuisance at all and only infrequently prompts minor discipline from her foster sisters. She is going to be very athletic as she pretty much prefers to run everywhere so an active forever home will be a must.
BILLIE is super friendly to all humans and other dogs and is a champ at stealing hearts wherever she goes. She especially likes to play with toys and chase balls so using those during training could be helpful. Because she is teething, we make sure she always has plenty of chew-appropriate options available. Initially, BILLIE was a frantic meal eater, but it didn’t take too many meals to train that out of her and now she eagerly waits for the “OK” to calmly start eating. She loves food and could eat all day if we let her so we believe she will be treat-motivated as well. We anticipate she will take to whatever training that comes her way.
She rides nicely and calmly in a car with or without a crate. BILLIE got to be an office visitor this past week and was perfectly content to sleep the day away with a few co-worker visits now and then. At nighttime, she enters her crate without protest and happily settles down with her plush puppy to sleep. She no longer asks to go out during the night and has never pottied in her crate. She does not, however, like to be left “alone” while in her crate if she thinks others have left the room and left her behind. Once potty trained and beyond teething, we believe she will be perfectly trustworthy to sleep wherever she wants.
Although BILLIE is happy to hang out with her humans, she is much more attracted to playing with her foster sisters so a home with another good-natured dog would be best. She is completely content being outside exploring and playing with her foster sisters with little human interaction. As with any puppy, proactive prevention to keep her out of mischief has been helpful.
BILLIE is started on her puppy vaccines, wormed, and microchipped. She is also on flea & tick and heartworm prevention. As a condition of puppy adoption, she will need to be altered when she reaches approximately 6 months (specific time to be determined by your vet). In addition to the adoption fee, puppy adoption requires a $75 spay/neuter deposit. Upon our receiving the spay/neuter certificate from you, the deposit is refunded.
