Now that Mama CASSIE’s babies are off to their forever home, it’s her turn to shine!
Miss CASSIE is an approximately 11-month-old, 40# rough coat border collie with a docked tail. She is a perfect size and she is beautiful! Her soulful eyes have so much to say as she looks to you for guidance and encouragement.
This very young lady had a rough start in life but things turned around for CASSIE when she entered the NCBCRA program. She spent weeks raising her babies in foster care. Although she was a great mama, it was time for young CASSIE to be a dog. She was insecure, confused, and didn’t know what was expected of her.
Fast forward to today…
CASSIE is a smart cookie and has a nice training foundation. She knows sit, stay, down, place, and has wonderful leash manners. CASSIE has benefited from training to increase her confidence. She’s food motivated so she is a fun training partner. I recommend her training continue so that her confidence continues to grow as she goes through her adolescence. CASSIE also has a great recall started.
CASSIE loves going on car rides, neighborhood walks, park visits, and anywhere else as long as she is with her humans. When on a walk she may have things to say to tell people that she wants to play. I anticipate that as her confidence grows and her training continues this will fade as well. CASSIE is a great running/hiking partner too.
CASSIE is a perfect member of the family. She is the snuggliest little love you can imagine. She will politely sleep on a dog bed with a chew toy or snuggle with you on the couch during evening hours. She takes input well from humans but clarity and consistency are important so that she understands her boundaries in the household. At night, she would love to curl up in a ball and sleep with you on your bed but she will also sleep quietly in a crate at night.
If CASSIE has it her way she will be next to you all the time. However, she is quiet when left alone too. I recommend that CASSIE be crated when her humans need to leave the home to do human things.
CASSIE is a social butterfly. She loves doggy friends and can live in a home with other dogs or be the queen of her castle too. She is submissive with other dogs but loves to play chase or bitey face.
CASSIE is a low-drive dog. She loves toys but does not play fetch. She also loves a good chew like a Benebone or antler.
CASSIE has a high prey drive and loves kitties too much so a home without cats is a must. CASSIE is house trained and crate trained.
CASSIE is micro-
