Adopted – Coco

Female, 12 Years, 34 lbs

COCO

Let us introduce you to this lovely petite elderly lady, a red and white border collie, 12 years old, a mere 34 lbs., COCO.

COCO came to us a stray.  The streets were not kind to COCO, she was sick, thin, and badly in need of dental care.  But with Coco’s strong determination to survive and a deep need to belong to someone, mixed with some excellent dentistry a bath, a persistent foster Mom and 4 pack mates, and the opportunity to slowly recover in an environment where she felt safe, secure, wanted, and lavished with lots of affection and kisses – COCO has blossomed into a beautiful bold happy little girl, running, and talking, playing and napping, chasing squirrels, watching the birds on the fence line, taking rides to and from, driving up and down the American River Parkway.

COCO is a rare gem, she is gentle, loving and kind.  Her smile is precious, she sleeps well in her crate through the night and will retreat to her crate frequently during the day for napping or to the nearest couch or dog bed.  COCO is the first of 5 out early in the morning eager to run a perimeter check and announce to the neighbors that we have started our day; that we’ve returned home from running errands; to tell all its time to eat, and yes to tell us when it’s time to go out to go potty.  If you offer COCO your lap and a slow massage, she will gladly accept it. She loves to be touched.  She loves to be included.  COCO  is eagerly learning basic commands, sit, wait, stay, come, load up.  COCO travels well in a harness tethered to the seat of a car or truck.

COCO deserves to continue this heaven on earth, preferably with a family who wants to dote on her, to accompany them on simple outings, who appreciates her enthusiasm but accepts her youth has past and that agility training, rough playing, or extraneous hard work, is not in her best interest; whose day will revolve around her, who will lavish her with affection and kisses.

COCO gets along well with other dogs, with her strong herding instinct she is selective with which mate she will share her space with.  But you, if you give her your love, time and attention, she will give you her best self, she will be your number one friend and companion.

COCO takes Cosequin and omega daily.  She eats only soft treats and soft kibble.

She takes Pepcid for acid reflux with her meals daily.  COCO prefers to have breakfast and dinner in her crate.  She eats and drinks water from a riser.

COCO is micro-chipped, spayed, heartworm negative and on preventative, and up-to-date on vaccinations. If you have an approved Northern California Border Collie Rescue & Adoptions Adoption Application and wish to inquire about COCO , please email us at Adoptions@norcalbcrescue.org. If you have an approved adoption application with Border Collie Rescue of Northern California let us know and we will request it be forwarded to us for consideration.

COCO is fostering in Rancho Cordova in Sacramento County, CA.
