ADOPTED – DALTON

Male, 11 months, 38 lbs

DALTON MAR 2023

Meet our sweet young boy Dalton. He is an 11m old BC/Lab mix. He has a smooth coat and weighs 38lbs. Dalton’s favorite thing is the ball or just about any toy. He loves to play! He will chase the ball and even bring it back. He gets along great with other dogs and likes to wrestle and play the chase game. He would do well with another dog with a similar activity level. Dalton also likes to play with the cats in his foster home. He does not try to hurt them, but he will chase them so any home with cats would have to be dog savvy cats who don’t mind a little fun.

Dalton is very sweet and affectionate. He will cuddle with you on the couch if allowed to do so or settle on the floor at your feet. He is not too velcro, but he will follow you around the house and want to know if there is any fun to be had with whatever you are doing. This boy is all about having fun! He is very food motivated and will take easily to treat training. He is also praise motivated and loves to be told what a good boy he is.

Dalton is starting to learn some basic training and will need to continue that training in his new home. He does OK on a leash and gets a little better each time he goes out. He was a little fearful of getting in the car at first, but now he mostly jumps in on his own. Sometimes he still needs a little help. He rides in the car fine. Dalton sleeps quietly in his crate at night and is fine being crated for a couple hours during the day when his foster mom is out running errands.

Dalton is a medium to high energy boy who needs daily exercise and mental stimulation. Having a buddy to play with will also help keep him busy. He can sometimes be a little shy in new situations or around loud noises. When out on a neighborhood walk, if a loud truck goes by he will shy away from it, but only slightly. He is not a barker, or a digger. He does not chew furniture, but he will chew other items if left out within his reach. Some puppy proofing will be required but he is happy to chew on Nylabones or other appropriate chew toys.

Overall, Dalton is a sweet, happy go lucky boy that will be a joy to train and become part of the family.

DALTON is micro-chipped, spayed, heart worm negative and on preventative, and up to date on vaccinations. If you have an approved Northern California Border Collie Rescue & Adoptions Adoption Application and wish to inquire about DALTON, please email us at Adoptions@norcalbcrescue.org. If you have an approved adoption application with Border Collie Rescue of Northern California let us know and we will request it be forwarded to us for consideration.

DALTON is fostering in Folsom in Sacramento County, CA.
