DOTTIE is officially ready for and eager to find her forever home. Dottie is a loving, gentle girl, 3-years-and-9-months-old and weighing about 50 lbs. She has a black and white rough-coat with gorgeous markings. She is a very kind girl, who is social and well-mannered with all people, even young children. While Dottie does have a soft spot for and is more likely to bond with men, she’d also do well with a female adopter.
And while we don’t want to dwell on the past, it is important to know that DOTTIE suffered an accident with a cow; as a result, she had to have her back left leg amputated. Happily, that event is behind her now; she has healed completely from her surgery and gets around very well. Everyone loves her at the clinic. When she arrived for her all-is-well exam, it was warm welcomes from everyone. She reciprocated, wagging her tail the whole time and confidently greeting all. She did always keep an eye on her foster mom to make sure she wasn’t being left behind. She is good on a leash for her vet visits, but around the yard she just follows and lays down a lot. Long walks probably would not be her thing.
Even as Dottie is relaxed around other dogs, large and small, she might do best in a home that doesn’t have overly rambunctious dogs, who might play too rough and unintentionally topple her over. Dottie could also be happy as the only dog in the house, where she could soak up all her new family’s attention and love. She largely ignores the cats in her foster home, and should be fine sharing a home with felines.
Dottie is a quiet dog who rarely ever barks. She is very happy to relax on her bed or even sometimes on the couch. At this point, she has no interest in toys, but given time and experience, she might grow to enjoy playing with toys with her people. DOTTIE is house-trained. She has never once had an accident in the house. She is also crate-trained. She actually loves her crate and will hang out in it even when it’s open. We do not consider her treat or praise oriented. She likes both, but neither is motivation for her happiness. That comes from her surroundings and her good nature.
