Born January 27th, 2022, the Bird Pups (1 boy, 3 girls, all adorable herding dog mixes) will be ready to go to their new homes starting March 25th. The Bird Pups were born in a rural shelter where they spent their first three weeks. One of our volunteers, who works at the shelter, rang us up to see if we could help. Sometimes we make the decision to intake dogs just because it’s the right thing to do, even when we aren’t sure exactly how much border collie DNA the dogs have. The pups’ mama Dove appears to be a herding dog mix, white with light reddish / tan coloring on her ears and along her back. Dove needs to put on some weight but will probably be in the 55 – 60 lb range, and the puppies are currently the size of typical border collie pups this age.
GOOSE (Male aka Goosie Goose) – Goose is the biggest of the bunch with a soft coat and beautiful coloring. He loves to play as much as the rest of them, but he also likes to snuggle. Cradle him in your arms and he’ll just stare at you lovingly and give you kisses. He will sometimes nap with his foster mom as he is one of two that can settle down and just enjoy some belly rubs. GOOSE is a pretty laid back pup compared to his sisters. He is also pretty independent and will explore or go take a nap while the others are doing something else. He sleeps through the night in his crate, waking only to let us know he has to go potty.
All four of the Bird Pups are sociable. Walk into their area and they come running to greet you with excitement and enthusiasm. They are filled with get up and go, and are looking for an active, loving family that will love them as much as they love people. If you are ready to include your puppy in all your fun activities, keep them stimulated both mentally and physically, and are up to the worthwhile challenge of bringing one of these pups into your life, we’d love to hear from you.
GOOSE is started on his puppy vaccines, wormed, and microchipped. As a condition of puppy adoption, he will need to be altered when he reaches approximately 6 months (specific time to be determined by your vet). In addition to the adoption fee, puppy adoption requires a $75 spay/neuter deposit. Upon our receiving the spay/neuter certificate from you, the deposit is refunded. If you have an approved Northern California Border Collie Rescue & Adoptions Adoption Application and wish to inquire about GOOSE, please email us at Adoptions@norcalbcrescue.org. If you have an approved adoption application with Border Collie Rescue of Northern California let us know and we will request it be forwarded to us for consideration.
