Due to the overwhelming response we will not be reviewing any more applications for the puppies for now. Thank you for your understanding.
Mama Wren’s Little Birds are ready to fly the nest. MAMA was great with her six pups (DUCK and HUMMINGBIRD already spoken for). Wren is a 32 pound, 2-year-old, medium-coated, black & white border collie, who shows signs of having been raised in a working home, & perhaps from working lines. She is learning to love being an inside dog. Her pups, born on March 22nd, are all social, happy pups with a lot of potential, & she has been a wonderful mama to them. The pups are ready to go to their forever homes, & Wren will be available for adoption soon.
TUFFY (aka Tufted Titmouse) (M)
TUFFY is the fluff-ball of the litter & will probably be a true rough-coated, classically marked border collie as he matures. He is puppy silly, but he also has a fine seriousness & composure, sitting back & taking things in. He is a very curious puppy. He is very food & toy-motivated, especially enjoying playing tug, climbing into boxes, & responding to silly sounds. He loves to bat his favorite ball around with his feet like a soccer player. His favorite sleeping position is belly-up! Tuffy has good-sized bone & will probably be a medium-sized border collie as an adult. He has great “eye” & loves to watch the sheep. He has spunk & will need an active home & a “job,” be it dog sports, fun herding, or lots of hikes & time together.
JAY (aka Jay Bird) (M)
JAY likes to be first—first to eat, first to get a treat, first to come when called, & he was first to crawl out of the puppy pen. He is more than willing to let you know what he wants. He is traditionally marked & we think he’ll have a medium, easy-to-care-for coat & be mid-sized as an adult. He is truly loyal pup and will want to go with his people whenever possible. When not doing typically crazy puppy things, he loves to curl up at his foster mom’s feet & wait for another chance to go on an adventure. Jay is keen for toys, but no soft toys for this boy unless he is closely supervised. Strong tug toys & hard chew toys that he can’t chew to pieces & swallow are his best choices. He will want a very active life & has aptitude for any dog sport. He is also super cuddly.
CHICK (aka Chickadee) (F)
CHICKADEE is the leader of the pack. With people she is very easy-going, but she is also super smart & an independent thinker. She will benefit from a adopter who knows how to channel her smarts & desire to do the right thing. She will excel at whatever “job” she ends up with because she likes to be right. She would enjoy dog sports, fun herding, or learning tricks. She’d also be a good partner on hikes. She would take on any challenge you put in front of her. She is extremely treat & toy-motivated & would be a blast to train at anything. Chick can be bossy with other dogs, particularly other females, so we’re looking for a home with border collie training experience & one who likes a girl who is “all that.” Chick is on the smaller size, & will probably take after her mom who is about 32 pounds. She has a medium-length, traditionally marked coat, also like her mom.
SWIFT (F)
SWIFT is a smooth-coated, traditionally-marked girl with the cutest freckles. She loves to play with her siblings & is typically in the middle of the pile. Swift is a very sweet, happy dog with people & enjoys trying new things with her person. She will be a fun dog to train. She’s curious & eager to please. But make no mistake, she is a real border collie girl & is going to need to learn & do things that give her an outlet for her considerable smarts & drive like dog sports, tricks, fun herding, & the like. She loves all treats & toys, & especially cardboard boxes where she can peek out before she pounces. While Swift is happy with her packmates & the other adult border collies in her foster home, she likes to meet new adult dogs slowly. She might like to share a home with a calm, mellow older dog, but she’d probably be happy as your only girl.
MAMA WREN’S PUPPIES are started on their puppy vaccines, heartworm & flea and tick prevention, wormed, and microchipped.
