Male, 1 – 2 years, 66 lbs
MARLIN is 66 pounds of love bug. It’s pretty awesome when you get a dog big enough that you don’t have to bend over to pet him. He loves that he can be petted while walking alongside his person. MARLIN loves to run, play, walk, chase, be chased…any activity is a good activity when there is a person or another dog (dogs) around. The more the merrier, but humans are his favorite. The shelter put him at about 2 years, but he could be younger. His teeth are bright, bright, white, and his personality is much like a puppy. You will get a loving, gentle teddy bear of a boy if you take Marlin home with you. Not even the cats seem worried about him. He looks, he sniffs, but does not bother them.
MARLIN is a lot faster and more agile than you would expect for a boy his size. Our other boys have a real challenge keeping up with him when he is in full sprint mode. Whatever activity you chose for him, he will love it. His eyes light up when you accompany him outside or invite him beside you for pets and treats. His thick black coat will need regular brushing, but he was pretty good with that and with his bath. He looked great all nice and clean (for about 10 minutes).
MARLIN is crate and house trained. He sleeps quietly overnight. He will whine a little when you first walk away, but perks right up when he sees you heading his way to let him out, or feed him, or both. MARLIN is mostly praise, but also food, motivated so training will be fun. He is OK on a leash; no pulling but does travel a bit side to side. He also needs work on hand grabbing (ever so gently) for attention, and does jump up on people but he’ll get it with a kind and gentle hand.
If you love ‘em large (by BC standards) and enjoy spending A LOT of time with your furry friends, MARLIN may just be the boy for you. He and his pearly whites await your application.
