Female, 10 weeks. 11 lbs
MEG is a darling 11 pound, 10-week-old Border collie/McNab mix girlie, with the slick, easy-care McNab coat, & the smarts & keen attention common to both breeds. She is a confident, enthusiastic, social girl. She has a “bring it on” attitude & wants to do everything, sometimes all at once, which makes for some hilarious moments. She wants to make sure that she doesn’t miss a thing. Meg is rocket fast & already very agile for a pup; she is a capable climber & jumper. Meg seems to want to have some kind of job. Sometimes she chooses to chase, crawl on, and steal toys from the older dogs in her foster home. They are mostly tolerant of her antics, & eventually she will leave them alone, finding a great time doing something else. Meg thinks it’s all fun & can’t understand why everyone else isn’t joining in. She loves tug toys, chew toys, sticks (although we discourage that for her safety), & she loves any & all treats. So, she will work & learn for toys & treats.
MEG learns quickly & is making great strides in potty training, offering a “sit,” & “going to place” (her mat). She catches on to “this behavior makes treats happen” in just a few tries, & will offer the behaviors she knows have worked in the past. She sleeps in her crate at night, & still will wake her foster mom up to go potty outside once during the night. She also travels well in her crate. She is starting to get acclimated to a leash, but has not learned to walk on one yet. Give her a couple of days, & she’ll be toddling along on leash just fine. For a pup, she already has a pretty reliable recall; she certainly has the concept.
While MEG is a very active, go-go-go, fun-loving girl that will need more stimulation & engaged activity than a walk around the block, she can settle & be soft & affectionate. She is also easy to handle. She had to have three foxtails removed from her ear, & she was a model patient at the vet, giving kisses to the vet who was working on her painful ear. She would thrive in a home with a family that likes to train–maybe even dog sports– & where she gets to be a part of things. She might like to live in a home with another dog, as long as that dog would set limits with her, but she might do just as well as an only dog. She has lived with cats; if the cats run, she is likely to chase them. If you are looking for a dog that is a blast to train & play with, who loves people & wants to be with her people, & who is adventurous, sweet, & adorable, Meg might be your puppy.
MEG is started on her puppy vaccines, wormed, and microchipped. She is also on flea & tick and heartworm prevention. As a condition of puppy adoption, she will need to be altered when she reaches approximately 6 months (specific time to be determined by your vet). In addition to the adoption fee, puppy adoption requires a $75 spay/neuter deposit. Upon our receiving the spay/neuter certificate from you, the deposit is refunded.
