OLIVER! Meet our darling 18 month old OLIVER. He is a young roughcoat black and white male border collie with a playful side to his sweet personality. Weighing in at 35 lbs our OLIVER was a bit shy at first in his foster home but warmed up quickly to his foster mom and dad and his foster pack mates. He slept quietly in his crate from the first night and hasn’t had one accident in his foster home. OLIVER does alarm bark but can be called off and redirected. He plays with our youngest Border Collie Gael and entertains himself with toys and other ‘fun’ things like rags, work gloves and anything else he can easily snatch. He did drag the kitchen sink rug out to the dining room but has been convinced that once was enough! We have recovered a slipper, socks and kitchen towels from his pile of playthings. He doesn’t destroy his booty, just collects them. OLIVER is not food or toy possessive and is very affectionate to mom and dad. He takes treats from your hand gently and will sit when asked. He really LOVES to be petted, scratched, groomed and loved on . OLIVER does not dig and chew inappropriately, he’s too busy playing chase, wrestling or observing passersby. He settles nicely when indoors once he’s had a look around for spare slippers or socks! He’s been known to drag out and dump the dog toy box indoors and ALSO the milk crate outside filled with balls and tug toys. He likes to chew on Kongs and deer antlers and settles nicely near mom or dad.
Our OLIVER came to us without a name so we named him OLIVER after a well-known fictional character. He is SO smart and eager to please that he realized immediately that HE was OLIVER and has come to us consistently when called. It’s nice to see how quickly he became part of our family and has fit right into our routine.
OLIVER on alert! Our boy did show great interest in the bathroom one night….why?……turned out there was a mole trapped in there and OLIVER was more than just a bit curious! Mole subsequently rescued without incident. Never a dull moment!
OLIVER likes riding in cars, is mastering leash manners and to our delight he does NOT try to jump onto furniture or people. We really appreciate that! He is curious about Pucklechurch, our dog savvy resident cat but stops short of chasing her. I’m guessing he knows the downside of that! He doesn’t seem to be high drive but has plenty of young dog energy. OLIVER is a soft boy needing only soft corrections and clearly will benefit from some boundaries and consistent rules. He is 100% loveable and is ready for his forever home.
