ADOPTED – OZZIE

Male, 1 – 2 yrs, 49 lbs

OZZIE OCT 2022

OZZIE is a Border collie / Australian Shepard cross with a beautiful, smooth, Tri-colored coat. He weighs 49.5 pounds and stands 24 inches at the shoulder. Ozzie is estimated to be one to be two-years-old. Ozzie is a beautiful, tall, well-balanced boy with brown eyes and an extremely sweet personality.

OZZIE is fun, energetic, and very curious. He loves to explore the yard on his own, and mostly stays close by his humans when outside. He is both agile and athletic. Ozzie desires a family who will spend time with him and train him to his true potential. In his foster home, his training sessions have been short and several times a day with positive reinforcement and food treat reward. He is learning very quickly to walk on leash; Ozzie’s leash training has progressed to 2.5 miles per day. He will be a wonderful jogging or hiking partner.

In Foster Care training, OZZIE’s recall is 100! However, no distractions have yet been introduced. He is very confident and very eager to please. Ozzie is always willing to try new things, and he can sometimes become overly excited. His training sessions should be short with down time in between.

OZZIE does very well in a wire or solid crate, and he has not had any accidents in the house. Ozzie is content in his crate for down time, to eat, and to sleep, and he sleeps soundly through the night. When let outside in the morning, he will relieve himself on command with positive reinforcement. Ozzie has not been left to run free unsupervised in the house. Ozzie is confident traveling in his crate in the car and has displayed absolutely no anxiety.

OZZIE is playful with his foster brother and has exhibited no aggressive behavior. On leash walks, Ozzie has shown some interest in squirrels; however, he has not shown any interest in cats. Ozzie has not been exposed to babies, toddlers, or small children. OZZIE is looking for an active family who will include him in ALL their activities. Simply stated, Ozzie loves being with people. His new family should have basic dog training skills and experience, so Ozzie will be the very best dog he can be.

OZZIE is micro-chipped, spayed, heart worm negative and on preventative, and up to date on vaccinations. If you have an approved Northern California Border Collie Rescue & Adoptions Adoption Application and wish to inquire about OZZIE, please email us at Adoptions@norcalbcrescue.org. If you have an approved adoption application with Border Collie Rescue of Northern California let us know and we will request it be forwarded to us for consideration.

OZZIE is fostering Loomis in Placer County, CA.
