Meet LAD, or Aladdin if he’s in trouble, but he’s never in trouble. This spunky, rough coat, black and white border collie will turn heads everywhere he goes. LAD is between 1 and 2 years old and roughly 40 lbs. He has more freckles than you can count and if that doesn’t make him unique enough then check out his 4 paws that have all been dipped in black.
LAD is as playful as they come. He can be a bit shy at first but don’t let that fool you because he will be running in circles before you know it. LAD is a busy boy but with adequate exercise does have an off switch. He outplays his older foster siblings so would love a friend that can keep up whether that be a dog or human.
Not only does LAD love other dogs, but he also adores his people. He comes to his name but rarely needs to be called because by the time he hears the back door open he is halfway to you. He will never walk away from being pet and can often be found snuggled up next to you on the couch with his head resting on your lap.
If LAD isn’t entirely house trained he is almost there! In true border collie fashion he is eager to please and so very disappointed in himself when told “no.” He might love pets and treats equally which should make training a breeze. If you leave clothing on the floor he will find it but is easily redirected with a more appropriate chew toy or rope, both of which he enjoys.
LAD travels well and sleeps soundly in his crate. He walks exceptionally well on a leash. He looks to his handler for direction and sits to face (or jumps which we are working on) said handler upon stopping. He has a strong herding instinct and would do best in a home without other indoor critters. He shows great interest in cats, chickens, etc. through a fence, and comes lightning fast when called so may be fine with secure fencing.
If you are looking a friendly, loving and loyal Velcro dog that loves people and other dogs, LAD may be just the boy for you.
