Meet Attie!
This joyful one-year-old Border collie mix is the whole package: confident, friendly, and endlessly affectionate. Weighing about 30 pounds, she’s the perfect size to fit into just about any home or lifestyle — big enough to keep up with your day, small enough to curl up in your lap at night.
ATTIE is incredibly social and has never met a stranger she didn’t like. She bonds quickly with people and is wonderfully dog-social. In fact, it is essential that Attie goes to a home with another friendly, playful dog. She thrives on connection and can always be found snuggled up with a dog or human. Having a canine companion helps her feel secure and will allow Attie to live her best life.
She’s calm and quiet in the car and always up for an outing — especially if it involves water. ATTIE loves to swim and will happily chase toys into the water for a satisfying game of fetch.
Although she’s around a year old, ATTIE still has a puppy-like zest for life. She’s playful, curious, and eager to learn. She will thrive in a home that’s excited to guide her through continued training and help her build confidence in the world. The good news? She’s highly food- and toy-motivated, which makes training both productive and a blast for everyone involved.
ATTIE’s already house trained, crate trained, microchipped, spayed, and up to date on all her vaccinations. She sleeps quietly through the night, settles well in her crate, and is comfortable being left alone for reasonable periods — a rare gift for a young dog.
ATTIE is good with kids and brings a gentle, playful energy to her interactions with them. That said, she’s still working on her “four on the floor” manners and may occasionally jump up in excitement, so some guidance will be helpful early on. She can also live with a dog-savvy cat, but does have a high prey drive. Careful introductions and continued supervision will be important until she learns the house rules.
ATTIE’s journey hasn’t always been easy. She arrived at the shelter with a shattered pelvis and underwent FHO (Femoral Head Ostectomy) surgery in early March. Thanks to dedicated rehab, she’s made a remarkable recovery and is well on her way to regaining full strength. While she won’t be a long-distance hiking or running partner or agility dog, she’s more than capable of enjoying daily walks, splashy swims, and active playtime with her people and dog buddies.
ATTIE has a smile that will light up your heart. Her joyful energy, loving nature, and genuine enthusiasm for life are contagious. She’s ready to bring warmth, laughter, and endless affection to the lucky family who welcomes her home — and gives her the social connection she craves.
