Say hello to MORGAN, an 8-month-old, 15 lb. border collie mix. He is a true pocket- sized rocket with both brains and speed in a compact and adorable package. He is a sweet, fun, goofy, and incredibly bright boy who is looking for a family that can keep up with his active mind and body. When he’s happy, he’ll show you with joyful zoomies around the yard, a sight that is guaranteed to make you smile.
MORGAN builds trust with new people by observing. He is looking for a patient family who understands that he needs a moment to feel secure. MORGAN has made quite a few friends while staying at his foster’s. A slow, patient approach is the key to unlocking his deeply loyal and affectionate heart. Once you are his person, you are his whole world. While MORGAN can be vocal when first meeting new dogs, it is his way of assessing the situation. He has successfully attended doggy daycare with a pack of 6-10 dogs, and once he was comfortable, he integrated beautifully and loved to play. He would thrive in a home with another confident, playful dog that can appreciate his bouncy, forward play style. A grumpy or older dog may not appreciate his youthful enthusiasm. Morgan has not been tested with cats.
MORGAN’s housetraining is coming along nicely, and he is impeccably crate trained. He willingly goes into his crate for downtime and sleeps soundly and quietly through the night from 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM with no accidents. After a good run or play session in the yard, he settles wonderfully in his crate and is content to relax. His intelligence is one of his greatest assets, but it also means he requires mental stimulation. If left unattended and bored, he will find his own ways of entertaining himself. A family committed to enrichment with puzzle toys and training will see him flourish.
MORGAN is a superstar in the making for dog sports. His incredible speed, agility, and high toy motivation make him the perfect candidate for someone interested in getting involved with agility, flyball, or canine scent work. He also does really well on his regular leash walks. He is looking for a family who will channel his smarts and energy into fun activities. Like all young herding dogs, he needs a home with a securely fenced yard where he can safely run and play.
If you are an active family, who understands the needs of a smart and sensitive breed, Morgan is ready to be your loyal companion and maybe even your future agility partner. He is looking for a family that will appreciate his smarts and playful spirit and continue to build his confidence with patience and love.
