🌟 Meet ROSALIE – The Whole Package 🌟
Every so often, a dog comes through our program who makes us pause and wonder: How on earth did this one end up in rescue? ROSALIE is one of those dogs.
She’s an absolute peach—a soulful, affectionate, smart-as-a-whip Border Collie who clearly had someone who loved and trained her. We may never know what led her to the shelter, but thanks to NCBCRA, her story is taking a joyful new turn.
ROSALIE is approximately two years old, weighs 34 pounds and strikes a beautiful balance of maturity and youth. She’s past the whirlwind of adolescence but still eager to learn, play, and grow with the right person by her side.
This is a dog for someone who knows the breed—not just the “smart dog” label, but the nuance behind it. ROSALIE is emotionally sensitive, deeply connected to her environment, and wants to get it right. She learns quickly and thrives on clear communication, thoughtful guidance, and meaningful connection.
She knows her basic cues—sit, down, stay, free—has a foundational recall, and listens with an intensity that experienced Border Collie people will recognize and appreciate. She’s house-trained, crate-trained, walks well on leash, and is up to date on all vaccinations.
ROSALIE is very toy- and food-motivated, making her an absolute joy to train. Whether you want to explore dog sports, build up a trick routine, or simply engage in mentally enriching activities, she’s up for it. Her eagerness to work makes her a potential sport prospect—but even more, she’s the kind of dog who enjoys doing things with you, not just for you.
She has moderate energy—perfect for someone who enjoys active living without needing to constantly manage over-arousal. She’d love to join you on hikes, training outings, or nosework sessions, then settle peacefully when the day is done.
In public and on walks, ROSALIE is neutral around other dogs. But in the home, she can be selective, so we’re seeking a home where she’ll be the only dog—a place where she can fully relax and be the center of someone’s world. Additionally, ROSALIE has a high prey drive and should not live with kitties.
If you understand the quiet joy of a Border Collie who chooses you, who checks in on walks, who listens with her whole heart—and you have the experience to support a dog with emotional depth—ROSALIE is ready.
Apply now to meet this extraordinary girl and begin the next great chapter—for both of you.
