My current name is Bunny/Buns, and I am a sweet and high energy 4yo female Border Collie (cattle dog? Mix) who is looking for her forever home. I am in Reno NV, but we are willing to travel for the right fit? I am spayed, chipped, and fully vaccinated, and I am about a 45lb meatball of muscles! I absolutely love to play fetch, am highly food/treat motivated, and will do anything for your love and affection.
This girl is extremely loving and cuddly but also has absolutely the funniest attitude and personality! For example, when she is instructed to lay down, sometimes she will moan and groan (and basically eye roll at you) on the way to laying down because she doesn’t actually want to but will do anything for food/praise? We call this goofy girl Bunny because she can use those strong hind legs to lick your face off because she’s such a lover. ? She has normal border collie qualities, like being very high energy and very smart!! We haven’t put too much time into her training, but she learns SO quickly when we do. Sorry in advance for the longer dating profile, but we are in no hurry to find someone who will love ALL of the quirks of this sweet girl. There are a few important things to know about her that I’ll elaborate on as you scroll!
As you can see from the pictures, she’s wonderful with kiddos (Her love language is definitely physical touch lol). She wants to be all up in your business and definitely has FOMO! Unfortunately, she is not the best lately with other pups. She does okay with our kitties, but if she’s with other pups, she would definitely need to be with another dog that is an alpha and is not afraid to tell her what’s up. She does well with our other alpha girl, but she can be kind of a butthead to our other more submissive and chill girl. Mostly, all three of these pups play well together, and I expect her to adjust to new pups well over some time. But, there are moments that set her off, so I want people to be aware of that.
Lastly, she’s been diagnosed with a skin disease (pemphigus) and is on a semi regular dose of steroids to help combat that. At this point, her body doesn’t respond to any other drugs that we’ve tried, so we’ve stuck to a small dose of steroids a couple times a week that seems to keep it at bay! There are some fun things that come with being on steroids (like being hungry more often and also a bit of a loss of bladder control), so these are just extra things to know and love about her.
She has basically been a 3 year foster pup with us because a friend couldn’t take care of her when they had a new baby. We have been a great home to her, but I do think that some of the stresses in our home trigger the flare ups in her disease.. now that she is on a consistent and lower dose of meds, no flare ups in the last few months, and is in a very trainable state, we think it’s time to find her family?
Again, we are in no hurry to find her the right home because she is a very special girl who needs a bit more love and attention than the standard border collie (who already needs a lot). Feel free to let me know if you or anyone you know may potentially be a good fit, and we can look into meeting.
