Bubba is an 8 to 9 year old, 74 pound Australian Shepherd / Border Collie mix who came to me from a neglectful situation. I took him in to keep him out of the shelter system, and now I’m focused on finding him the kind of home he should have had all along.

He’s a very smart, intuitive dog who thrives with structure and a person to stay close to. Bubba was started as a service dog but the training was never followed through, so he has a solid foundation and really enjoys learning. He loves walks, responds well to commands, and is very food motivated, which makes him easy to continue training with.

At home, he settles in nicely and has a calm, affectionate side. He enjoys belly rubs, playing with his toys, and a good game of tug of war, but is just as happy relaxing nearby. He’s crate trained, house trained, and great in the car. He’s friendly with people, warms up quickly, and enjoys attention on walks.

He’s currently living with a dachshund and can coexist with the right dog, but would likely do best as the only pet. He also needs a home without cats due to a strong prey drive, and would do best in an adult home, as he’s not comfortable with young children or unpredictable behavior.

An ideal home would be calm, structured, and have some outdoor space. He loves being outside, laying in the sun, and having room to move around. He could also benefit from gradual weight loss with regular exercise and has mild arthritis, but is otherwise healthy, neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped.

Bubba is a loyal, steady dog who does best with someone experienced with herding breeds and will be an incredibly devoted companion in the right home.
