Name: Yurei (Japanese name for ghost, pronounced ‘Yur-ee’)

Age: 2 years old and 1 month

Weight: 38 pounds guestimation (he is a mini Border Collie)

Gender: Male

He is not currently microchipped

He has been neutered since June 4th 2025 (Rabies shot included)

He was altered by Animal Action League mobile clinic in Joshua Tree. I used a government voucher I applied for to get him neutered for free

Yurei is a sweet sweet boy. He is very very shy at first, always has been as a puppy, but once he warms up he is a glued on cuddle bug. All he wants is to sit in your lap forever if you let him. Only problem is he is not keen to other dogs. He isn’t a fan of dogs even if they’re female. He does these soft growls the entire time a dog is near him to the point they even attack him, so we decided he is not happy with our pack and would be best suited for someone as an only dog.

Yurei is very energetic and would LOVEEEEE to be taken for walks, hikes, strolls, or just to have a giant yard to run around in with you. Another thing about Yurei is he was the runt of a litter and was the last puppy, he is deformed in his bottom jaw since he is a double Merle mini Border Collie. His bottom jaw doesn’t match his top jaw and is slightly shorter so his tongue hangs out a lot! This doesn’t affect his eating or drinking at all, just make sure his food is wet or soaked in warm water during winter and cold water during summer so it softens up if you use kibble. He also has some neurological issues from being a lethal white runt so he can get stuck in these ‘herding trances’ and will run back and forth, chase imaginary bugs (also real bugs!). Easy way to snap him out of it is pet him or call his name. He will gladly run over to you and plant himself in your lap.

Yurei is also a great alert dog, since he’s a tiny bit blind and half deaf (he can see but not too far away and he can hear you easily if you make your voice high pitch or he sees your hand movements for ‘c’mere’ he will come.) so he barks pretty loud when he sees or hears anything that isn’t normal. He doesn’t understand how LOUD he is. He patrols the yard and is always making sure his territory is protected. Just make sure he’s in a fenced in yard, he is keen to exploring way too far and since he’s tiny he cannot defend himself against wild predators.

Yurei LOVES enrichment foods as well, safe fruits, and veggies, and he loves dog treats like Minties even if it takes him awhile to get through them. He absolutely loves apples and I’m sure if you try other fruits he will enjoy those as well. If you ever have questions or concerns after taking in Yurei feel free to reach out anytime. If you truly love border collies and their quirky personalities compacted into a mini body then this boy is the dog for you. A true love bug who loves his humans. He deserves a better life and to be the center of someone’s world and not have to share it with other fur-pups.

Also a quick add: Yurei is good with cats he doesn’t care about cats after he’s able to sniff them and identify them. He has not been around anything else! He may or may not try to herd your cats though! A rehome fee will be discussed to make sure he goes to an amazing home. We are located in Palm Springs California! He was dewormed and got his shots as a puppy but I no longer have a pamphlet for it!
