ADOPTED Tip

Female, 8 months, 34 lbs

**Update: At this time, due to the overwhelming response we are accepting no more applications for TIP. Thank you!**

Meet Tip.  She is an Intense, Energetic, Fun-loving, Active, Chewy, Silly, Sweet, and very Friendly little girl.  Tip is crate-trained and will come in and out of the house using simple off-leash guidance commands.  She is still a “puppy” at approximately 8 months of age.  Tip weighs around 34 pounds and is 21 inches at the shoulder with a compact little body. She has a beautiful soft, short black and white coat with perfectly perky border collie ears.  She has four white feet, white on her chest, and a white tip on her nose.

Because of her outgoing and secure nature, Tip has spent the last four weeks building confidence and teaching another border collie foster dog.  Tip loves to run and play tug with her foster pal.  On walks or at play time, she is very confident and social with random dogs she meets.  For her age, Tip is bossy with other dogs until put in her place by a senior dog, and then she very playful.   When she grows bored with a playmate, she will play with a toy or hunt for lizards. She has a high need for stimulation and things to focus her attention.  Even when playing, Tip has a solid recall and will stop whatever she is doing and run to you when whistled or called.  She is intelligent and requires considerable time and attention from her trainer.  She learns commands fast and is praise, toy, and food-motivated.

Tip has not been exposed to cats.  She can be extremely focused and curious when she encounters or hears a squirrel or a squawking chicken.  Due to her puppy nature, her attention should be redirected to a toy or on-leash correction. Tip is very athletic and will make a wonderful running or hiking partner. She loves the water and has been exposed to both kayaks and paddleboards.  In order to reach her full potential, Tip must have an active forever home full of structure, attention, and adventure in a home where someone has experience with the particular needs of a young border collie.  She enjoys doing tasks and being with her trainer.  Tip is a thinker.  She will follow you everywhere and demands your attention. At this age, Tip should not be left alone or on her own, or like most young border collies, she could probably develop bad habits.

Tip likes to go for on-leash walks both by herself and with other dogs.  She has received some formal on-leash training.  She has been exposed to agility jumps and will recall through a tunnel.  She will tug with a toy and play on a “flirt pole.” She is extremely trainable, loves to learn, and has performance potential for dog sports like agility, dog-diving, disc, scent work, etc. She would not be a good candidate for a pet home where someone simply wants a walking or running partner.

Tip enjoys her meals in the privacy of her crate and sleeps quietly through the night in her crate away from people and other dogs.  She has never had an accident in her foster home, and will let you know when she needs to go out by a little whine or whimper. Tip is ready to meet her new forever family and is eager to start a new adventure.

TIP is micro-chipped, spayed, heart worm negative and on preventative, and up to date on vaccinations. If you have an approved Northern California Border Collie Rescue & Adoptions Adoption Application and wish to inquire about TIP, please email us at Adoptions@norcalbcrescue.org. If you have an approved adoption application with Border Collie Rescue of Northern California let us know and we will request it be forwarded to us for consideration.

TIP is being fostered in Loomis in Placer County, CA.
