ADOPTED – MAE

Female, 16 weeks. 13 lbs

MAE

I’m not really sure how I got into border collie rescue as I am but a tiny girl.  Found alongside a road, I was in need of some help, being only about 4.5-weeks-old and only 4 pounds, I surely could not fend for myself.  Luckily for me, Northern California Border Collies Rescue & Adoptions had some room for me, so I got to go to this fun place with other dogs and cats and chicken and all sorts of fun things to meet and play with.  And because I am so little and cute, they didn’t require a DNA test!  They just think of me as a mini-border collie-wannabe!

My rescue name is Mae, but my foster mom calls me Dinky Dog (I sure love hearing her say it, cuz I know if I come running to her I get a treat!)  I’m having so much fun and now that I’m about 16-weeks-old, 13 lbs & I’m told it’s time to look for a forever home.   I’m hoping there will be another friendly dog to play with and maybe a nice cat; I almost have made friends with cats in my foster home.    I love all kinds of play like tug and retrieve the ball and “attack the stuffed animals.”   Most of my stuffed animals are bigger than me, cuz I’m still dinky.  I think I’ll be maybe 20 – 30 pounds, but what does a dinky dog know about growing up!  That said, I am a very smart girl, and I love nothing more than figuring out how to get my way.  One of my traits that helps everyone, especially my foster mom, forgive me when I’ve been a pill, is that I am so dang cute.  I sport a beautiful tri-color coat, mainly black with orange/tan trim and white on my tiny chest.  Not only is my coat beautiful, but it’s soft and short, and I may have a bit of fluffiness at the edges when I grow up.  I am pretty good about pottying on the paper, but I still have some learning to do about housebreaking.  Wait, it’s summer!  Isn’t school out for the summer?  My foster mom says that it’s always training time with me.  I do use the doggy door, but with all of the fun & games going on with the other dogs & critters in my foster home, I sometimes get distracted & forget to potty where I’m supposed to.

My puppy wish list for a home is to live with someone who likes a feisty girlie, who is really active, who has another fun dog for me to play with, who is home most of the time and doesn’t just come home in the middle of the day for lunch and a quick romp in the back yard, and who has training experience.  My new family should probably have lots of patience, too!  Ha, ha!  Right now, I am part of a wild-&-wooly group of border collies, & wow, are they fun!  So I’ll need to learn that my people are as fun & as important as my doggy playmates.  Treats, tug play, & adventures will be right up my alley.  I hope my new family won’t care if I only have a little bit of border collie, cuz it’s probably safe to say that a little bit is about all I likely have.

MAE is started on her puppy vaccines, wormed, and microchipped. She is also on flea & tick and heartworm prevention. As a condition of puppy adoption, she will need to be altered when she reaches approximately 6 months (specific time to be determined by your vet). In addition to the adoption fee, puppy adoption requires a $75 spay/neuter deposit. Upon our receiving the spay/neuter certificate from you, the deposit is refunded. If you have an approved Northern California Border Collie Rescue & Adoptions Adoption Application and wish to inquire about MAE, please email us at Adoptions@norcalbcrescue.org. If you have an approved adoption application with Border Collie Rescue of Northern California let us know and we will request it be forwarded to us for consideration.

Mae is fostering in Live Oak in Sutter County.
