THE SNACK PACK litter is a group of the sweetest puppies we’ve had in a long time. Even the spunkiest & most adventurous of the puppies is super sweet. Born around March 27th, the pups are almost 10 weeks old & are ready, ready to go to their forever homes. All of the puppies are “border collie” energetic & smart, so be prepared with games, training opportunities, or dog sports for these dearies; they may like dock-diving as they all like to play in water. They will not be content going on walks around the block, or playing catch in the backyard. That said, if you give them what they need to work their little brains & bodies, they all have an “off switch” & will be happy snuggling, or hanging out with you—some more than others, so ask lots of questions about the puppy you want to bring home. The puppies live with other animals in their foster home, so they are well-socialized to dogs, cats, & even two African tortoises. They have had lots of visitors in their foster home, & they have been charming to one & all. They all know how to go in & out of the doggy door, but they don’t yet have a firm grasp of housebreaking, as they’re all still together, providing each other with plenty of distractions. As smart as they are, that will come together easily once they have one-on-one, consistent direction from you. They eat their meals in their crates & have ridden in a large crate together for car rides from the shelter to their foster home & to the vet, etc. without getting carsick. Based on their current weights, we guess the pups will be between 30-40 pounds when they’re full-grown.
CHEEZ-IT is also tri-colored beauty, but is a little bit bigger than her sister at 8 pounds. Cheez-it & Triscuit are very much alike in energy level, smarts, & confidence. Cheez-it loves to adventure, but like her sister, she connects beautifully with people & love to check back in. She is playful with people & other dogs (especially the great Pyrenees in her foster home), but also loves to collect her toys & take them to her bed, marching past her sisters & brothers with a funny little swagger. She is entertaining in the way she plays with her toys, throwing them in the air for herself & catching them, & did we mention that anything can become a toy for this girl–a knotted washrag is a particular favorite. Confident & a fast learner, like her sister Triscuit, Cheez-it will love to learn new things that will make her think as well as play & exercise. She might enjoy dog sports like agility, or canine scentwork (aka nosework). She will not be content to sit on the sidelines, waiting for you to have time to do things with her. She will want to be with you, doing things together that you will both enjoy. Because Cheez-it is both treat & toy-motivated, & wicked smart, she learns quickly, & will be so rewarding to bond with & train. She will be willing to do whatever you ask her to do & then snuggle with you afterward.
CHEEZ-IT is started on her puppy vaccines, wormed, and microchipped. She is also on flea & tick and heartworm prevention. As a condition of puppy adoption, she will need to be altered when she reaches approximately 6 months (specific time to be determined by your vet). In addition to the adoption fee, puppy adoption requires a $75 spay/neuter deposit. Upon our receiving the spay/neuter certificate from you, the deposit is refunded.
