Male, 6 – 9 months, 30 lbs
Hello! I am FREDDIE, Freddie Spaghetti, or just Fred. The vet thinks that I am approximately 6-9 months old. I weigh about 30 lbs and I won’t grow much more. I am as good natured as they come. I haven’t met a person or dog I haven’t liked. I love to play with toys, especially ones that are soft and squeaky, and I do like to pounce on a ball. I have not yet mastered the art of bringing the ball back, but my foster family is working on that with me. I do need to be supervised with toys because I will chew parts off and try to eat them.
I LOVE to cuddle and follow my foster parents around and I LOVE to take naps and play with my toys on the couch. I sleep very well in my crate at night, though I do like to whine a bit at first and then again in the morning when I am ready to get out. I settle down in my crate while my foster parents are away, but I still could use some additional work on crate training, and I prefer to have a pupsicle to help me calm down when I am put in there. My foster mom bought me a dog play pen that sets up easily inside the house and I really enjoy being in there. She says it is security for me, and peace of mind for her and I like that I can see everything that is going on around me!
I am pretty much 100% potty trained, with only a number one accident in the house. I have not counter surfed at all, but I do require supervision because I will take a sock or a slipper thinking it is something okay for me to play with.
I am good on a leash and I’m learning how to properly walk on one more and more each day. I live with two high energy border collies now and I am much more laid back than them. I would say my energy level is medium. I love to get the zoomies and wrestle with my friends here, but after a few minutes I like to retreat to the couch or just watch them play. I love food and I am extremely motivated by treats and my meals, so our training sessions should be a lot of fun (for me anyway, you know, T-R-E-A-T-S).
My foster family is not sure if I am good with kids, but I am very gentle and kind, but since I am still a puppy that does like to mouth things, they think I would do better in a home with older children that are used to dogs. I have met cats, and I was very gentle with them but I was also very interested, so a dog savvy cat would be best if I were to go to a home with felines. While I love socializing and playing with other dog friends, my foster parents think I would also do great in a home as an only dog because I really love one-on-one attention and being right next to their side.
I love to go for walks, and I love to meet new people but most of all I REALLY love to sniff. My foster family is always waiting around for me to finish getting all the daily news around the neighborhood. I would love to be a dog that joins my people on hikes and go to dog friendly establishments. Because I really just enjoy the simple little things in life (like finding my own pinecone and a good sniff) and I am a bit clumsy and not very agile, my foster family doesn’t think I would be very interested in agility or dog sports, but I might like detection classes because my nose work is fantastic.
I do great in a bath, and I really seem to like water so summer adventures by a lake or a river might be great fun for me. I transport well in my crate and lay right down or sit up and watch everything go by around me.
I do not bark very often and when I do it is brief. I sometimes like to howl like a wolf and my foster mom thinks it is cute. I have been in my foster home for a while now and my foster family has only heard me bark a few times.
I would do best in a home that wants to spend time training me with my leash and recall and I will require a fenced in yard. I know how to sit but and my foster mom is working on shake with me, but I am not picking up on it too quickly. I love when she spends time with me trying to teach me things.
My foster family thinks I am the sweetest boy, and they cannot wait to see my growing up photos with people who will love me for the rest of my life. If you are looking for a Velcro dog that will be by your side and bond with you, I am your boy! I just need a safe, structured place to call my own that will continue to teach me good manners and help me mature and become the best boy I can be.
