JESSIE is an active, affectionate ball-chasing young lady. She loves people and people love her. She also gets along well with other dogs. She does not let her birth challenges; zero hearing and limited vision, slow her down in the least. She lives a pretty normal life, but would benefit greatly from having another dog buddy to pair up with for play time. As you can see from the video she loves to run and play hard. Her dog buddy should be able to match her activity level and enthusiasm for play and companionship, particularly when out in the yard. Inside she prefers hanging with her people or just picking a quiet spot in which to rest.
JESSIE was taken into the shelter as a stray, but we do know a little bit about her background. She is the offspring of a merle to merle match, which often results in birth defects. In Jessie’s case, she was born deaf and with an underdeveloped left eye. Her eye was recently removed. She is all healed up, and ready for her forever home. JESSIE is house and crate trained. She often can be found in her crate, door opened. Jess sleeps quietly in her crate all night. With the help of Ash and Sissy, her doggy foster siblings, she is getting much better at coming to the door to be brought in after play / potty time.
JESSIE is approximately 2 years of age with a medium length coat and weighs in at approximately 40 lbs. About the only thing you can do she won’t like is not include her when doing cool stuff. She loves to just hang out. One of her favorite things, after she chases her ball around or goes a few rounds with Ash and Sissy, is to jump up on the outdoor bench with her foster dad, cuddle up and get petted. Our cats are pretty dog savvy and do not trust her. If she sees them, and they run, she will chase and she is fast enough to keep up and catch them. When stationary they hiss and try to keep her away. For her protection (one eye) and theirs JESSIE will need a cat-free environment. Because she can get a little startled when coming up from behind we would suggest no small children in the home.
JESSIE is ready for a loving family and a new dog buddy to call friend and mentor. Give her a secure and loving home in which she is included in all the fun activities and you will be rewarded with an awesome gal. Pet her, love her, and feed her and you will have a loyal friend for life.
