Female, 1 1/2 – 2 years, 48 lbs.
Meet MISS MOLLY MAGUIRE, a 1.5 – 2 year old, 48 pound border collie girlie with an easy care, medium rough coat, cute spots on her nose, and an always sweet smile for her person. In fact, MOLLY’S favorite thing in life is her person! She will follow you around the house and settle a few feet away or at your feet if you’ll let her. At first MOLLY can be shy with people she doesn’t know, so she needs patient introductions to new people. That said, it doesn’t take MOLLY long to relax, and nothing can dampen her enthusiasm once she gets to know you. She is quick to settle in and adopt her person or persons. She is funny and goofy, and her personality will make you smile & laugh every day.
MOLLY is strong and athletic. She loves to show off her great athleticism, and it is a joy to watch her move! MOLLY is on the large side for a female border collie. Even so, she is easy enough for a 5’1”, 110-pound volunteer to walk her on a harness and leash. MOLLY loves to go for walks, and with more in-depth, loose leash walk training, she could be a perfect running, hiking, or walking partner. She loves to train and learn new things, and she’s super smart, toy-motivated, and treat-motivated. Agility or nose work anyone? Further positive training and positive experiences with new people will help her continue to grow in confidence and ease when she is out in public.
MOLLY gets along well with other dogs and loves her play companions, playing chase and romping. She loves her toys, especially squeaky balls. MOLLY does, however, guard her food and toys from other dogs. An experienced, dog-savvy owner could manage this with other dogs in the house (and it is lessening with time and training.) MOLLY could be just as happy as your one-and-only dog at home and then enjoying the company of doggy friends on play dates. She is pretty keen about cats and will chase a cat if it runs, so she would probably do best in a cat-free environment.
MOLLY is very well crate-trained and has not had an accident in her foster home. She has nice house manners, but she will want to learn what you expect in your home to be the best girl possible. She wants to please! Being a young, active border collie, she will need an appropriate amount of daily exercise and engagement. If you want a sweet companion who radiates joy and wants to do fun activities with you, who wants to learn and please, and who might be a partner in dog sports, MOLLY could be your girl.
Because she needs slow intros to new people, MOLLY would do best in a quieter home without a lot of people going in an out frequently. MISS MOLLY has a heart of gold and will make a wonderful companion and family member.
MOLLY is microchipped, spayed, heartworm negative and on preventative, and up-to-date on vaccinations.
