Meet Tank!

Tank is an approximately 2-year-old Border Collie weighing around 47 pounds, and he is such a wonderful combination of playful, affectionate, goofy, and easy to live with.

Tank is a cuddly guy who forms strong bonds with his people. He may be a little reserved when meeting someone new, but it doesn’t take him long to warm up. Before you know it, he’ll be looking for affection and enjoying being part of the action. Once you’re his person, you’ll have a loyal little shadow who loves being included in everyday life.

Tank enjoys spending time with other dogs and has good canine social skills. He has also been introduced to children and did well. As with any newly adopted dog, thoughtful introductions and supervision will help set everyone up for success as he settles into his new home.

He is house trained, crate trained, and walks beautifully on leash. He’s an easy guy to take along on adventures and seems to genuinely enjoy spending time with his people.

Tank is both food and toy motivated, which makes training especially fun and rewarding for both Mr. Tank and his humans! His motivation gives his people lots of opportunities to build positive associations, teach new skills, and create confidence through successful experiences. Training doesn’t have to feel like work with Tank—it can be something you both genuinely enjoy doing together.

One area where Tank is still building confidence is car travel. He will ride in the car, but he would benefit from a patient family willing to help him develop more positive associations with traveling. With time, consistency, and encouragement, I expect this is something he can continue to improve.

Like many Border Collies, Tank has a medium-to-high prey drive. He is very interested in wildlife and other fast-moving animals, so he should be kept on leash or in a securely fenced area. Because of his interest in small, fast-moving animals, a home without cats or other small pets would likely be the best fit.

Tank has a really nice balance of energy. He enjoys walks, exploring, training, and being involved with his people, but he also knows how to settle and relax once his needs have been met. He isn’t a dog who needs to run for hours every day. He will, however, thrive with a family that enjoys including him in daily life and providing regular mental enrichment.

Tank is the kind of Border Collie who reminds you why we love this breed so much. He’s smart, affectionate, fun, and eager to be part of his person’s world.

If you’re looking for a sweet, loyal Border Collie with a goofy personality, and plenty of potential, Tank might just be your guy.
