PEPPER OWNER AVAILABLE

Female, 5 years, 35 – 40 lbs

PEPPER OWNER AVAILABLE

If interested in Pepper please contact Lorraine via email at fenceit@comcast.net

I have been fostering a Border collie for the last year, as a favor to a friend.  I live in a small house, small backyard. To help run off her energy, we played ball in a local park. That is until the Animal Control showed up.

Apparently, someone complained and LIED, that not only was letting her off leash, but that she was chasing HUMANS and I wasn’t picking up after her. The off leash part is true, but only when playing ball with no one around. Anyway, it makes it so I can’t keep her any longer.

Pepper is a medium, smooth coat BC. She is 5 yrs. old, spayed, house and crate trained. She weighs in at about 35/40 Lbs.  Up to date on all shots.  Crate, leash, food, ball chucker… all will go with her.

Pepper has been put in her place by my cat, so she doesn’t bother her, but will chase a stray cat if given the chance. She does come back when called.  She growls at other dogs, put does not lunge, (this is why I do not take her to my local dog park).  I know Pepper would be good around other dogs, once she gets use to them. She got along well when my McNab was still alive and she visited for the odd weekend.  I have let her off leash around a friend’s dog when chasing the ball. She sniffed, and then went back to playing ball.  She is leery of small children, but has never been around them to my knowledge.

She growls at the front door when someone is near, but doesn’t usually bark. She does bark when someone approaches the back yard fence and she is outside.  She barks and is shy and timid when meeting new people.

She is used to living on a 1/2 acre and running to her heart’s desire.  She needs other dogs? to play with or a job to do. I just can’t give her those things. Pepper got in a fight with a fox a couple of years ago. Fox won, taking a chicken egg with it. Pepper was rewarded with 9 stitches in her lower back/hip area. She has healed fine, but is timid about going out in the dark on her own.

Pepper is VERY ball/toy oriented. She constantly brings the ball to play and doesn’t give up. I believe it’s because she needs a job to do and is bored.

Pepper is a loving dog. Wants to be the center of attention and loves to cuddle when tired.  She rides in the car very well.  Settles in quick and just lies on the back seat.

I have tried to rehome her numerous times, but it at the last minute, the deal falls thru. (They want a puppy, other half doesn’t want a dog, etc etc)

I am afraid to take her to the park anymore as I don’t want animal control breathing down my neck. I also live in an HOA, If it’s one of my neighbor’s, I can’t have them complaining to them.

I feel bad because she has been raised in a house without other animals/people for socialization.  I have tried to take her place’s a few times and she’s good.  Sniff’s and then ignores. Basic commands are still being worked on.  Come and sit are fine, but stay, heal and down all need work. She does well on the leash, but will pull when she thinks it’s getting close to the area that we play ball.

I believe she would do very well as a Disc Dog or Dock Diving.
