Cody

ADOPTED

CODY JUN 2020

ADOPTED

Meet CODY! At 12-14 weeks, this happy little bundle has been such a pleasure to have in our home. We were a little worried that the older dogs would pick on him, but this little boy rules the roost. He isn’t afraid of the older bigger dogs and wants very much to engage in play with everyone he meets. His foster brothers are very tolerant of him stealing lap time and toys, but when he crosses a line and gets reprimanded by them, he sulks off quietly to go lie down and give them some space.

CODY gets along well with the human teenagers in his home, always happy to cuddle and play, his little white tipped tail wagging constantly. He’s a very happy, friendly and outgoing pup, with new doggy friends and human friends. He’s also had his first introduction to the kitties in his home, and though he was VERY cat curious at first, that was quickly remedied after his first run in with the grumpy queen bee kitty. Now he watches them curiously but from a safe distance. He’s also been introduced to horses, and pretty much carries on about his own puppy business while we fill troughs and feed.

CODY would do well in a home with other dogs, but if he had a parent that was home a lot or could take him along on daily adventures, he’d be ok as an only pup, too. He loves to be with his people as much as possible, bonding quickly and sticking pretty close by when we are outside doing chores. Ever curious about his surroundings, he approaches new things with boldness and curiosity. He’s only about 20 pounds now, and while he will grow considerably over the next several months, he’s a perfect size to learn all about traveling in the car and going new places in his new home. CODY is crate-trained for eating and sleeping, and goes in easily with a treat when it’s bedtime. He sleeps through the night unless he has to go potty, and he’s coming along well with his house training too. He is mostly housebroken with supervision.

CODY loves toys, the squeakier the better. He’s not quite mastered the art of fetch yet, but with time he would probably pick it up quickly. CODY is both praise and treat oriented, learning new commands quickly and eagerly. He mastered “sit” the first evening he was here, seeming to take cues from his foster siblings.  Between his Border collie smarts, and his athleticism and energy, CODY will be a pleasure to train in any discipline, and will make a lovely pet for an active, fun-loving home.

CODY is started on his puppy vaccines, wormed, and microchipped. He is also on Heartworm and Flea & Tick prevention. As a condition of puppy adoption, he will need to be altered when he reaches approximately 6 months (specific time to be determined by your vet). In addition to the adoption fee, puppy adoption requires a $75 spay/neuter deposit. Upon our receiving the spay/neuter certificate from you, the deposit is refunded. If you have an approved Northern California Border Collie Rescue & Adoptions Adoption Application and wish to inquire about CODY, please email us at Adoptions@norcalbcrescue.org. If you have an approved adoption application with Border Collie Rescue of Northern California let us know and we will request it be forwarded to us for consideration.

CODY is being fostered in Colusa which is in Colusa County, CA.
