ADOPTED – FRANKIE

Male, 1 year, 34 lbs

FRANKIE OCT 2022

FRANKIE is a 34lb, smooth coat male BC who is about 1yr old. His favorite thing is his person and he will follow you around the house and lay nearby. He will also get up on the couch and lay next to you and will even cuddle if encouraged.

FRANKIE loves other dogs and gets along well with his pack mates in foster. He would do well in a home with or without other dogs. He would enjoy the company of another playful dog, but would also be happy to get all the attention. He is submissive with other dogs so any other dogs in the household would have to be OK with that. FRANKIE leaves the cats in his foster home alone and would be fine in a household with dog savvy cats. He does not seem too ball motivated, but that could change. He loves to shred plush toys! He is still a young boy and will chew things, like socks or shoes, if given the opportunity. A little puppy proofing and some chew toys and he is a happy camper.

FRANKIE came into rescue with what looked like an injured rear right leg. He does not always put weight on that leg and the muscle is not as well developed. After getting x-rays, it showed he had a broken pelvis injury that is already healed. He was most likely hit by a car a few months ago and it has since healed. It has caused his right rear leg to be slightly under developed. The vet did not recommend surgery and said he will live a normal life but may have slightly decreased use of that leg. It certainly does not stop him from running and playing and rough housing with his foster packmates.

FRANKIE is the sweetest boy! He can be a bit shy and submissive at times but he gets over that quickly with a soft touch and words of encouragement. He is very praise motivated. He will bond very closely with his person and seek out attention. For a BC, he is quiet, soft and easy. FRANKIE has limited training and is working on the basics; sit, wait, leave it and walking on a leash. He is doing well with the leash training and gains confidence with every walk. At first he would not get in the car on his own, now he jumps in with just a little encouragement. He will need to continue basic training and daily exercise.

FRANKIE sleeps quietly in his crate at night and is fully potty trained. He is fine being crated for a few hours during the day if his foster mom leaves the house. He is not afraid of loud noises like the vacuum, but he will retreat at loud voices. He will need someone who can give him a little extra patience and a soft touch with lots of affection and 1:1 time. He will reward you with his undying love. You can just see it in his eyes. He is ready to find his forever family.

FRANKIE is micro-chipped, spayed, heart worm negative and on preventative, and up to date on vaccinations. If you have an approved Northern California Border Collie Rescue & Adoptions Adoption Application and wish to inquire about FRANKIE, please email us at Adoptions@norcalbcrescue.org. If you have an approved adoption application with Border Collie Rescue of Northern California let us know and we will request it be forwarded to us for consideration.
