ADOPTED – CINDER “Specially-Abled” Deaf
Female, 8 years, 45 lbs
Female, 8 years, 45 lbs
CINDER is a dignified 8-year-old border collie/lab mix of about 45#, who is deaf. Her lack of hearing doesn’t seem to make a bit of difference except in a good way. Cinder is not bothered at all by noises, including the barking of other dogs. She finds her way & watches her foster mom attentively for direction. She is a low-key girl, gentle & devoted. Cinder loves nothing more than curling on a soft bed, stretching out for deep rubs, padding around the yard with her foster mom, & taking the short walk. She came to us with a rear leg injury that probably resulted from her leg being tangled in fencing wire; it has left her with a slight hitch in her gait (but no pain), & a slim scar. She got this injury during the most recent wildfire in Butte County, when she was found stray & injured by firefighters.
CINDER loves chew toys & bones & will happily entertain herself with these. She reserves her silly dance & helicopter tail wag for those times when she’s almost 100% certain treats are coming her way. She is crate-trained, & actually loves her crate, & she’s also quiet in her crate, never making a peep. She is reliably housebroken. Cinder is very good about grooming, enjoying her bath & her brushing. Despite the fact that she is utterly comfortable being at home & has lovely house manners, she likes to ride in the car & go places & she travels nicely. Because Cinder was on crate rest for some time while her leg healed, she does not yet like going for long walks, but she does enjoy short walks in the neighborhood. This may change over time, as she builds stamina. But we’re pretty sure “low-key” is going to remain a good description for her energy level. “Low-key” would also describe her reaction to the other dogs in her foster home. She is not bothered by uproarious, young border collies zooming around the yard & home. She is content to watch & never seems concerned that she has anything to worry about. We don’t know how she would be with cats. She is lovely with people, gentle & soft.
If you are looking for a beautiful, kind, & gentle older girl, who will follow you around the garden or go bird-watching with you in the neighborhood; a girl who can live with your other dogs easily & will not make a fuss when you have dear friends over for dinner, then Cinder is your gal.
