**NOTE – EACH PUPPY HAS THREE PICTURES. THEY ARE IN THE SAME ORDER AS IN THE BIO (ALPHABETICAL). Mom’s photos are the last three in the series.
Mama Breeze & her pups came into rescue when the pups’ eyes were still closed, so we’ve had the joy of getting to know this little family from their earliest days. The pups were born on approximately May 25th, so at 10-weeks-old they are ready to go to their forever homes. Mama Breeze is a wonderful mother & still takes a keen interest in her pups, even as she is well past nursing them. She is a sweet, easy-going dog, who gets along with all the other dogs that live in her foster home & who is lovely with people. While this family clearly has herding dog in their background–everyone pays attention to the sheep, goats, etc.–we have seen no real drive in this group. They are active, playful, eager to learn, & social, but they are also easy-going like their mom. And with all of these coat patterns, we suspect some of the pups have different fathers. These pups will probably be bigger than a typical border collie, as their mom is taller & longer than most BCs, & the pups have good-sized bone; we don’t expect that they will be large dogs, per se. All of the pups love playing with toys & exploring tunnels & boxes; they also respond enthusiastically to treats. They are all doing pretty well with going potty on paper & are starting to go outside. The pups all eat their meals in their individual crates & sleep together in an X-pen. Here’s a little bit about each pup:
(ADOPTED 8/10/2021) Aura (f) is stunning to look at–a blue & white merle with a white blaze & the markings that make her look a little like a sad clown. She is not actually sad, but can be a little clown! She is an active girl that loves to play with her littermates & the other foster pups in residence. Being the smallest in the litter, she can be a bit shy, but given time to collect herself & take in the scene, she is ready to go. Her favorite toys squeak & crinkle. Tug is super fun & she really likes cuddling up with the resident “old dog” Uncle Wisdom. Aura would like an understanding family that will make sure she is not overwhelmed as she grows in confidence, someone with experience & patience in socializing & training a pup that needs a little bit more encouragement.
(ADOPTED 8/4/2021) Flurry (m) is a miniature version of his mom with very similar markings & personality. He is red with merle patterns & spots in his short, easy-care coat. Flurry can often be found sleeping under a puppy bed or in a play tunnel. He always has a silly, impish look on his face. He loves toys & playing with people, other dogs, & well, trying to figure out how to play with the resident cat. Flurry will do best in a home with other dogs to play with & people who love to be entertained to his funny antics.
(ADOPTED 8/14/2021) Gale (f) appears to be the largest pup in the litter, but maybe it’s simply her semi-fluffy white coat with brown spots. She has the kind of loose skin that lets us know she has room to grow. Gale does everything first: first to get a toy, first to try out a bed, first to climb over the X-pen & magically end up in her foster mom’s bed in the morning! Gale is what you might call an “old soul.” She is very much a puppy, but she seems to have an easy understanding of the world. She loves to play with the many critters in her foster home, which includes dogs of all ages & sizes, cats, chickens (in a coop), & a couple of large, strange-looking tortoises. Gale has been a joy to raise from a 3-day-old pup to now. She would love to go to an active home where she would learn lots of things & get lots of love & cuddles.
(ADOPTED 8/4/2021) Storm (m) is a brilliant little tri-color boy, who thinks of himself as perfect (perfect storm)! He prefers to be correct at everything he does, which will make training fun & even easier. He loves all toys & games & is receptive to learning new games & activities. Storm is curious about & eager to interact with all of the other critters in his foster home. He plays very nicely to everyone. He is especially curious about the chickens in their coop & the sheep on the other side of the fence. He pays keen attention to both, but makes no moves to chase.
(ADOPTED 8/14/2021) WindSock (f) goes by her nickname “Windy,” especially as she really wants to be someone’s best friend. She is kind & kissy, just an all-around nice girl. She has the potential to be whatever you want her to be because she seems to have a high desire to please. Once she grows up to her full size, she shows promise as a sports dog &/or hiking buddy. Windy’s coat appears almost black, but is actually a deep, deep red. Her coat is short, & she has white tips on her toes & tail. She can get a little overly excited about meal time & is working on “slow down.” WindSock just likes everything that comes her way & expresses that with enthusiasm.
(ADOPTED 8/4/2021) Zephyr (m) is a goofy, fun-loving puppy. If there is a game to play or some love & kisses to share, he is ready! Any toy is great & every bed is very comfortable. Zephyr sports a beautiful short red coat with a small amount of white on his chest. He has amazing double dew-claws on his back feet, which can easily be removed when he is neutered. Zephyr is a “good old boy” & easily fits into all actions in & around his foster home. He gets along well with the other dogs & critters in his foster home & is social with people who come to visit.
MAMA BREEZE’s PUPPIES are started on their puppy vaccines, wormed, and microchipped. As a condition of puppy adoption, each will need to be altered when they reach approximately 6 months (specific time to be determined by your vet). In addition to the adoption fee, puppy adoption requires a $75 spay/neuter deposit. Upon our receiving the spay/neuter certificate from you, the deposit is refunded. If you have an approved Northern California Border Collie Rescue & Adoptions Adoption Application and wish to inquire about the puppies, please email us at Adoptions@norcalbcrescue.org. If you have an approved adoption application with Border Collie Rescue of Northern California let us know and we will request it be forwarded to us for consideration.
