Hi my name is Kodi and I am a border collie mix. My mom adopted me about 3 years ago from the pound. I am about 35 lb and 4 years old. I am microchipped and spayed. I have been heavily trained since being adopted. I am crate trained, mat/place trained, know a lot of cool tricks (sit, stay, mat, crate, down, spin, touch, roll over, shake, up, down, off, and am learning ‘hoop’). My parents recently had a baby and I am having a hard time adjusting. I go to group training lessons almost weekly with other dogs and am usually the star. I am not reactive in the community, as long as I have a treat.

I love the car and going on road trips (just don’t feed me my dinner or breakfast before because my tummy may get upset). I listen to my humans pretty well, although I do have a few flaws. My recall is not the best, unless you show me a treat. I do counter surf and if you leave anything on the counter I will eat it. I will resource guard my treat or thing I have grabbed from the counter, unless you present me with another treat. I will get reactive with another dog on walks in my neighborhood. I get too excited and then eventually go above threshold. This is why I do not think I can have a dog or cat brother or sister. I may get reactive. Also, if I see a squirrel or cat in the back yard, I will try to go get it. If your fence is not secure, I am very good at jumping and hopping. Despite these few flaws, I am a loving dog. I love cuddles on the couch, treats, going for car rides, going for runs, and being your best friend.

My mom is looking for a loving home who has experience with reactive dogs and does NOT have any other animals or children. I will bond to one to two people. Please let my parents know if you are interested in adopting me. Kodi, short for Dakota, is a great dog. She has been good to me these past couple of years. Unfortunately, with a new baby she is not getting the attention she deserves, and her ‘normal’ isn’t normal anymore. Her trainer is including free group trainings on the weekend for Kodi to continue the progress she has made.
