Zep is a 7.5-year-old spayed female Border Collie weighing about 60 lbs. She is microchipped and current on vaccinations, including rabies.

Zep is a very sweet, loyal dog who loves attention and being close to her people. She will come up and put her head in your lap when she wants attention, and she often follows me around the house. She loves walks, playing, and being included in whatever is going on. She is smart and has picked up the things I have taught her pretty quickly.

Zep was my parents’ farm dog until my dad passed away, and I took her in about six months ago. She is used to having space and activity, and I think she would do well in a home where she can get regular exercise, interaction, and routine. She is not perfectly leash trained and does pull some on walks, but she really enjoys them.

She has been very calm and patient with our 16-month-old. When he has gotten too hands-on, she has never shown aggression toward him and simply waits for us to step in. With new people, she can be nervous or standoffish at first, but she usually warms up once she realizes they are not threatening.

Zep previously lived on a farm with other dogs. In our current home, our other dog has had a hard time sharing space and attention, which has caused him to be stressed.

We are looking to rehome Zep because our current situation is not the right long-term fit for her. Between a young child, demanding work schedules, and another dog who is stressed by the situation, we are not able to give her the time, activity, and attention she deserves. I think she would do best with someone who understands Border Collies or other herding breeds and can give her a stable home with regular exercise, attention, and companionship.
