BOYS OF SUMMER MALE PUPPIES
THE BOYS OF SUMMER litter is another NCBCRA sweet group of puppies that are sure to steal your heart. Born in June 2023, the pups are 9 weeks old & are ready to go to their forever homes. All of the puppies are “border collie” energetic & smart, so be prepared with games, training opportunities, or dog sports for these dearies; a few really like to play in water and all love toys. If you give them what they need to work their little brains & bodies, they all have an “off switch” & will be happy snuggling, or hanging out with you—some more than others, so ask lots of questions about the puppy you want to bring home. The puppies live with other dogs in their foster home, so they are well-socialized to dogs. They have had lots of visitors in their foster home, & they have been charming to one & all. They don’t yet have a firm grasp of housebreaking, as they’re all still together, providing each other with plenty of distractions. As smart as they are, that should come together once they have one-on-one, consistent direction from you. They eat their meals in their crates & have ridden in a large crate together for the ride to their foster home & to the vet without getting carsick. The BOYS OF SUMMER litter is being fostered Granite Bay, Placer County, CA.
ADOPTED – MIYA
Our little cuddlebug, MIYA, is a mere 25 lbs, 1 year old, with a smooth, gorgeous tri-color coat. She loves to snuggle on the couch or in bed (if allowed she would LOVE that). She will be fine in a crate overnight as well. Miya gets along well with the other dogs in the house. She really loves the company of other young dogs to play with. They provide her much needed comfort and outlet for her energy. This girl loves to play and wrestle!
ADOPTED – OWEN
OWEN is 6 months of age and slight of build at 28 pounds. His smooth coat and bat ears point to his being a McNab / border collie mix. His shiny coat is dark brown with white markings on his chest. OWEN gets along well with dogs young and old, but leans towards and prefers his people. When let out of his crate, he wants pets before going outside. When outside he will be at the center of all activity, yet will seek out his humans for affirmation, pets, and love. He is all about climbing up on the bench with his foster dad, as long as Jet or Skittles hasn’t beaten him to it.
ADOPTED – JET
JET craves love and affection. At 3 years and 41 pounds, this beautifully marked rough coat (medium length) red and white border collie is all about his people. His golden eyes will make your heart melt. From minute one of their first meeting, JET leaned into his foster dad for pets and lovin’. He really wants to be close to his people…like if he could get inside your shirt close that would be just fine with JET.
ADOPTED – GiGi
Meet GiGi! Gigi is a beautiful red and while rough-coated border collie mix. She is an approximately 2-year-old, 38-pound spayed female. She has beautiful brown eyes, soft ears, and a gorgeous, feathered tail. She is very friendly and wants to engage with everyone she meets, even at the vet’s office. GiGi is a typical, young herding dog in that she needs lots of exercise, activity, and stimulation. Without it, she gets bored and looks for things to do. GiGi loves to be out and about, enjoying walks in the neighborhood and going to the dog park. She generally plays very well with the other dogs and does not show any signs of aggression. That said, she does try to herd some of the other dogs and can play a little rough at times. And she sometimes thinks it’s fun to steal other dogs’ balls or to play when another dog doesn’t really don’t want to play. However, she responds well to direction from others and to being told “that’s enough.” GiGi loves walks! She is great on a leash; she does not pull and will generally sit when asked to sit. She is learning to bring the leash to the door for her walks. She gets very excited when “leash” is mentioned. On her walks, she is not bothered by cars or trucks, but she is not fond of the roaring sounds of motorcycles.
ADOPTED – LILY LANGTRY
Say hello to LILY LANGTRY, a 1-year-old, 27-pound beauty, who loves nothing more than courting love and attention from everyone she meets (including the staff at the vet’s office)! Lily is what we like to call a “Velcro border collie,” leaning into whoever is closest to her and looking up at them adoringly. She is also a spirited, fun-loving girl, who runs rocket fast, plays, and leaps for the sheer joy of it.
ADOPTED – PEPPER
PEPPER is a smooth coat border collie cross weighing a slender 33 pounds and standing about 23” at the shoulder. She is about eight months old (DOB 11/19/2022). Pepper has black accents on her face and up right expressive erect ears.
ADOPTED – BERNARD
BERNARD, aka BERNIE, is a happy, delightful, 3-year-old tri-colored border collie mix with a medium rough coat. He weighs in at 36 lbs. Bernie fit into his foster home quite well from the word go. His preference is to spend his time with his people, but also enjoys the company of his four foster siblings (male and female) and they enjoy his company. They love to run, play, and wrestle around. After some running and playing, he loves to join his foster dad on the swinging bench for pets and cuddles. When inside, if we give him a sliver on the couch he’ll squeeze his way in or just make his home on dad’s lap (try saying no to that face).
ADOPTED – PRESLEY
PRESLEY is a very active, energetic, and inquisitive little girl with a bounding personality. She is a rough coat border collie weighing 32 pounds and standing about 22” at the shoulder. Presley is seven months old and displays many puppy tendencies. ADOPTED – EIKO
EIKO is an incredibly affectionate and endearing pup. He is an approximately 3 year old, 35 pound rough coat black and white border collie with very pretty markings around his eye. EIKO gets along well with other dogs and generally adapts well to the presence of cats and children. Engaging in playful activities such as tug of war with his canine companions or entertaining himself with a game of catch, EIKO always keeps the fun alive.
ADOPTED SNOOPY

ADOPTED – JASPER
Meet our sweet and silly JASPER! He is a 38 pound, 2-year-old BC/Aussie mix with a beautiful red, full rough coat and gorgeous golden eyes. But there’s more to JASPER than his dashing good looks! He is the life of the party; in fact, he knows how to make his own party. JASPER's favorite thing is his toys. He loves to flip toys around in the air and play like a puppy. He also loves to be with his people and is very friendly and affectionate with everyone he meets. JASPER gets along great with the dogs at his foster home, but is overly cat-curious. He has not hurt the cats, but he is too attentive to the cats and it would be in his best interest to be in a cat-free environment.
ADOPTED – TRISCUIT
TRISCUIT is the smallest of the pups at 6.3 pounds, a couple of pounds smaller than all the rest, but don’t let her size fool you. This gorgeous tri-colored girlie is spunk & energy in a small container. She is very energetic & adventurous, willing to check out new things on her own. Confident & a fast learner, Triscuit will love to learn new things that will make her think as well as play & exercise. She might enjoy dog sports like agility, or canine scentwork (aka nosework). She will not be content to sit on the sidelines, waiting for you to have time to do things with her. She will want to be with you, doing things together that you will both enjoy. Because Triscuit is both treat & toy-motivated, & wicked smart, she learns quickly, & will be so rewarding to bond with & train. She connects beautifully with people, but she can also play with toys on her own. She will be willing to do whatever you ask her to do & then snuggle with you afterward.
ADOPTED – BLUEBERRY
BLUEBERRY is an approximately 8.5 pound package of adorable with his off-center blaze & heart-shaped nose. He is energetic & can show incredible focus for whatever he’s doing, but he can also settle nicely. The word self-possessed comes to mind when thinking about this little guy. Blueberry is great with the other dogs in his foster home, & is playful with people, so he’s not yet as into toys as he is into playing with other dogs & his person. In fact, at this point his favorite toy is the flirt pole, which he has to play with his human. This boy will want to be with you, doing things together that you will both enjoy. He is fast learner & is treat & people-motivated. He is also a snuggler, & wiggle-bunny. Blueberry will love to train & learn new things that will make him think as much if not more than simply playing or exercising. He might enjoy dog sports like agility, or canine scent work (aka nose work). Blueberry will be willing to do whatever you ask him to do & then snuggle with you afterward.
ADOPTED – RASPBERRY
RASPBERRY is a gorgeous, 7.5 pound, black & white girlie with the most endearing prick ears. You can certainly tell when she alerts to something! Her coat is a soft, medium-length that will be easy to care for. Like her sister Cheez-it, Raspberry weighs about 8 pounds & is nicely built for speed & agility. This girl loves toys of all kinds, but especially ones that squeak. She carries them around (sometimes teasing her littermates with them), & entertains herself with them until you show interest, & then she’s happiest to share them with you. Like her sisters, Raspberry will love to train & learn new things that will make her think as much if not more than simply playing or exercising. She might enjoy dog sports like agility, or canine scent work (aka nose work). She will not be content to sit on the sidelines, waiting for you to have time to do things with her. She will want to be with you, doing things together that you will both enjoy. Because Raspberry is both treat & toy-motivated, & wicked smart, she learns quickly, & will be so rewarding to bond with & train. She will be willing to do whatever you ask her to do & then snuggle with you afterward.
ADOPTED – GUACAMOLE
GUACAMOLE is an 8 pound, classically marked border collie with a medium-length, easy-to-care for coat. He’s classically marked alright , but what the heck is that left ear going to do? Whatever it does—stands up or stays as it is—Guacamole is a good-looking dude, but one who is not too cool for mischief & fun. Adventurous, curious, confident, & with lots of energy, Guacamole can go from focused & on-the-job to goofball in the blink of an eye. He will be a blast to train, using toys & treats & through the wonderful bond he’ll form with his person, & after training or lots of play, he will love to snuggle. Because he is smart & high energy, he will need things to do to stimulate him mentally as well as physically to help him be the best boy he can be. He might enjoy dog sports like agility, or canine scent work (aka nose work). He will want to be with you, doing things together that you will both enjoy. Guacamole will be willing to do whatever you ask him to do & then snuggle with you afterward. (He is really snuggly!) And like his sisters, he has an off switch.
ADOPTED – BEAN DIP
BEAN (DIP) is an 8 pound, mostly black rough-coated boy with the softest coat & the dearest expression. His eyes when he looks at you are the eyes of an old soul, as if he’s taking you right into his heart. Bean is playful & energetic, but not over the top, & he settles nicely. He often watches for a few moments before joining in whatever is going on. He simply likes to check things out.. Bean likes to play with people most & he’s also happy to play with toys of his own. His favorite toy is a flirt pole. He has nice focus & pays attention as if he’s taking in every word you say. And he’s a fast learner because he listens, & is treat & toy-motivated. Bean will want to be with you, doing things together that you will both enjoy. And because he is thoughtful & affectionate, he will bond easily. If you’re looking for a lovely, smart border collie boy, who is not over the top, but who will be willing to do whatever you ask him to do & then snuggle with you afterward, Bean may be your new best friend.
ADOPTED – CHEEZ-IT
CHEEZ-IT is also tri-colored beauty, but is a little bit bigger than her sister at 8 pounds. Cheez-it & Triscuit are very much alike in energy level, smarts, & confidence. Cheez-it loves to adventure, but like her sister, she connects beautifully with people & love to check back in. She is playful with people & other dogs (especially the great Pyrenees in her foster home), but also loves to collect her toys & take them to her bed, marching past her sisters & brothers with a funny litter swagger. She is entertaining in the way she plays with her toys, throwing them in the air for herself & catching them, & did we mention that anything can become a toy for this girl--a knotted washrag is a particular favorite. Confident & a fast learner, like her sister Triscuit, Cheez-it will love to learn new things that will make her think as well as play & exercise. She might enjoy dog sports like agility, or canine scentwork (aka nosework). She will not be content to sit on the sidelines, waiting for you to have time to do things with her. She will want to be with you, doing things together that you will both enjoy. Because Cheez-it is both treat & toy-motivated, & wicked smart, she learns quickly, & will be so rewarding to bond with & train. She will be willing to do whatever you ask her to do & then snuggle with you afterward.
ADOPTED – JILL
JILL (aka: Jilly Bean)
We’ve all heard the saying, “you can’t buy happiness but you can adopt it.” Well, if you want to be greeted when you come home by a wet nose & a happy tail, take a look at our foster dog JILL. She’s an adorable black & white (with a touch of tan on her legs) border collie. JILL is a one year old female weighing about 35 lbs & she’s looking for someone to love her (besides her foster Mom, that is). This precious girl is about as sweet as they come. Once you meet her you can’t help falling in love with her.
ADOPTED – MAX
Meet MAX, nicknamed “The Boss” by his foster family. MAX is a male black and white rough coat border collie that is approximately 12 weeks of age and 19 lbs. He is a take charge little guy, who is absolutely fearless. When MAX came to his foster family, he immediately exhibited no hesitation whatsoever in meeting and playing with his much larger foster siblings. MAX is a smart, typical border collie who picks up on things super-fast and seems to have a keen sense for herding. He will require an experienced border collie household that will find him jobs that are both mentally stimulating and physically challenging; for example, herding, canine nose work/scent work, or agility. Mentally and physically challenging activities, along with exercise, will help burn off excess energy and will help Max be the best version of himself. After training activities and hard play, MAX calms nicely and is a very lovable cuddle bug.
