TOBY

Male, 1.5 years, 42 lbs
Toby is an approximately 1.5-year-old Border Collie mix weighing in at a lean 42 pounds. He embodies many of the traits that make herding breeds so special—intelligent, observant, highly trainable, and deeply connected to his people. Toby is the kind of dog who notices everything around him and is constantly processing the world through a thoughtful and sensitive lens.
While Toby thrives in a calm and predictable environment, don’t mistake that for a low-energy dog. He enjoys being active, learning new skills, exploring with his person, and having a job to do. What He needs is not less activity, but a lifestyle that balances activity with structure and emotional stability. Busy households, constant visitors, and chaotic environments can be overwhelming for him, while a peaceful home allows his personality to truly shine.
Training with Toby is a joy. He is highly food motivated, has a medium toy drive, and genuinely enjoys engaging with his person. His intelligence and willingness to learn make him an excellent partner for someone who enjoys training and building a relationship with their dog. Toby is looking for a person who appreciates the Border Collie mind and enjoys working together as a team.
Toby is seeking an experienced owner who understands how to support a thoughtful dog without overwhelming him. He would do best as the only dog in the home and is not a dog park kind of guy. Toby thrives with a smaller social circle, a predictable routine, and a person who is willing to advocate for his comfort and emotional well-being.
Toby should not live with cats. He thinks cats are absolutely fascinating and likes them a little too much for everyone’s comfort. He would also do best in a home without young children, where his need for predictability and personal space can be respected.
For the right person, Toby will be an incredibly rewarding companion. He is loyal, intelligent, affectionate, and deeply devoted to his people. If you have a calm home, an active lifestyle, and an appreciation for the unique qualities of a sensitive Border Collie, Toby may be the partner you’ve been searching for. 💛
