PRESLEY AVAILABLE
PRESLEY and his brother Jagger, the Rock and Roll Boys, were found as strays, brought into the shelter by a Good Samaritan, and from there it was on to NCBCRA. They are 4 1/2 month old smooth coat black and white Border collie, Queensland Heeler mixes. PRESLEY (26 lbs.) will tell you he’s the better looking of the two, but Jagger will tell you the same story. All we can tell you for sure is that it was time the brothers led their own separate lives, so PRESLEY wound up coming to Tehama County, while Jagger is fostered in Placer County. They have really flourished apart, and now they are ready for their forever homes.
ADOPTED – FLY
Meet FLY girl. FLY is a four-year-old, 35lb border collie mix with a medium length coat. She has attentive ears and kind eyes that never leave sight of her person. Despite being on the shy side, FLY has never met a human she does not love. FLY has the quickest happy feet when bounding to greet her people and follows them absolutely everywhere. She will crawl up on your lap and melt into you for a pet. An ideal day for FLY looks a bit like this: a quick trip outside before breakfast, naps all day and short trips around the house to follow her people, maybe a jaunt outside, dinner, and a good sleep wherever she sees fit that night, whether that be her bed, your bed, or her crate.
ADOPTED – KAI
Meet little 5 month old KAI who currently weighs in at 28lbs. He's a merle sable with the most gorgeous blue eyes. Kai has been in foster with a female Kelpie and has met many other dogs who he immediately loves. He's met children and thinks they are just grand. KAI is medium drive with exceptional trainability as he just wants to please. He'd do well in a family and would excel as a nice training prospect for any one of the numerous dog sports like Agility or Treibball. He walks great on leash and picks up commands like the brilliant puppy he is. He learned the tug game quickly and is willing to "give" when the tug item becomes still. Did I mention how much he wants to please?

ADOPTED – MUSTARD
ADOPTION PENDING - MUSTARD is a black and white smooth coat border collie mix that weighs in at about 15 pounds. One of four brothers (two adopted), he is methodical in his approach. He wants to get the lay of the land before jumping in, but once he is confident you are good folk, he is all in. MUSTARD then wants all the attention. His happy place may just be out with his people playing and goofing around. Smart and observant, he is beginning to understand the commands “sit” and “crate.” He does well with his siblings and the adult dogs in the house. He mostly ignores our cats. He sometimes takes note of their presence but felines should not present a problem.

One of four brothers (the other three doing very well in their new homes), BUN has really blossomed into a confident young boy. CRUZ AVAILABLE

In fact, his favorite place to be is with people. He needs nothing more than a human to pet him, and a lap in which to drop his head, to be content. He is comfortable and enjoys the outdoors, but CRUZ has a strong drive to be inside where he can be safe, warm (or cool), secure, and near his family.

LUX OWNER AVAILABLE
If interested in LUX please contact Audra via email at audragrady@gmail.com Lux is an 8 year old McNab mix born in Sonoma County in 2017. We rescued her and her sister after the Tubbs fire in Santa Rosa, CA and took them in as foster puppies. We then adopted both of them and they have lived with us together for the last 8 years. Lux is a healthy and active 8 year old female. She is about 48 pounds, spayed since she was a puppy.
NITRO OWNER AVAILABLE
If interested in NITRO please contact Monica via email at mbramos4@gmail.com Hello. I am looking to rehome my border collie/cattle dog mix. His name is Nitro and he is 1.5 years old and about 50 lbs. Nitro is a young energetic boy who loves attention, fetch, swimming and any opportunity to play. He is great with people, kids, and other dogs when off leash. He does have dog reactivity when on leash which has been difficult to take him in public settings. Nitro would thrive in an environment where he has private space to roam freely. He has been around cats (on leash) and seems very curious about them but never shows aggression. However, he may have a natural prey drive which I have not tested.
ARCHIE OWNER AVAILABLE
If interested in ARCHIE please contact Maya via email at mayareeseg@gmail.com Archie is six years old, about 60 pounds. He’s very active, loves chasing the tennis ball and pretty much any toy you’ll throw for him. He’s highly intelligent, loves belly rubs and ear scratches. He has a big personality that’s bound to make you laugh. Commands he knows: Sit, stay, down, come, wait, back up, heel. He knows how to bow. Out, leave it, enough, done, free, off, down. He knows how to pick up his leash if it’s dropped – Just point at it and say get it. He’ll pick up sunglasses and keys with that same command and hand it to you. He knows “clean up” if any food drops or spills. He’s potty trained, not destructive, doesn’t get separation anxiety. He loves to crawl up on the couch or bed and take a nap after a long day. He is not good with cats. He would be fine to be in a home with other dogs. He’s can be reactive with dogs outside of the home, especially when on a leash. He is fine with dogs in his doggy daycare. He is e-collar trained. No health issues. He does take 300mg of gabapentin and 100mg Of trazodone on occasion per the vets recommend it helps me not be as on edge if there is company coming over. He’s also on once monthly simparica trio. Neutered and up-to-date on vaccines.
He does have a bite history with adult humans, none serious. The bites have occurred when there has been what he perceives as a threat to his pack (e.g., someone unfamiliar tries to pet him) or when someone within his pack invades his space (e.g., he’s in his bed sleeping and doesn’t want to move, and you reach in to try to force him to). Biting always comes with warning signs, growl, lip raised. He never snaps without warning.
EDDIE OWNER AVAILABLE
If interested in EDDIE please contact Julian via email at mk.smith79@comcast.net I have a Border Collie mix I can't keep long term. I'm looking for help re-homing him. He needs a place without other dogs (big may be OK, not sure) or small children. I live in Newberg Oregon, but will travel almost anywhere to find him a good placement. I adopted Eddie, almost 5 years ago, when he was 2. He was an adoption return. Between what I see and what my agility instructor says, I think he was not well treated as a puppy. While it has been improving with training and activity, he's always had herding/nipping behavior.
PIPER OWNER AVAILABLE
If interested in PIPER please contact Will via email at lamtaichi@gmail.com Piper is a six year old female Border Collie mixed that I adopted from someone who didn’t have time for her two years ago. Piper is spayed but the former owner did not remember where the alteration took place, however, Piper has a blue mark on her lower tummy indicating the procedure. Piper has a lot of energy and is a hard working dog.
FINN OWNER AVAILABLE
If interested in FINN please contact Don via email at donchasey@gmail.com Finn is a Tricolored Smooth Coat Border Collie. He is 4-5 years old, neutered male, up to date on vaccinations and is microchipped. Finn is very intelligent and easy to train. He’s eager to please and he is a sweetheart. We adopted him at a local shelter about 3 ½ months ago. He doesn’t like our other dog and would do best to be the only dog in the household. He gets along well with our cats and parrot. He is very focused on his people and doesn’t get distracted when walking by chickens or cats in the neighborhood. He sometimes reacts to other dogs on a leash, but not always. Finn walks well on a leash and stops before crossing the street when told to wait.
WALKER Shelter Available
If interested in adopting, fostering, or rescuing WALKER, please contact Sonii by email at scorona@lodi.gov or call the Animal Shelter of Lodi at 209-333-6741 Hi, I’m Walker! I am currently residing in the animal shelter of Lodi, CA since early May. I’m 2 years old, weigh about 40 lbs, neutered, and current on all my vaccines. I am not microchipped. I was running stray for over 3 weeks before I was caught. The big noises and many people that surrounded the streets were very scary to me, so I would run as fast as I could when anybody looked my way and hid very well until anyone in sight was gone. Since being at the shelter, I’ve realized, there are good people who only want to help me, and I get excited any time I see them approach my kennel.
